  1. Thanks. That makes sense. The exclusions that I listed were reasons given sounding more like the buck stops there. If I could read I could have found testmynet FAQs and found what I wanted: simply a straight answer. While it won't help with my ISP, it will explain to me the varying results and the conflicts between testing. Again thanks
  2. Without using towers, noise, "throttling" by telecommunication companies ( platform providers used by ISPs etc. e.g. Level 3, Cogentco.), outside of ISP's control, time of day, using Java, Flash or HTML5, can someone give an explanation why sites similar to this one, an independent, have vastly different download results that are half or less that the application, starts with an O, used by a large majority of ISPs and services other than ISPs? in either English or techy
  3. The VPN I'm trying will not let any testmy speed tests run. The error on the browser page says cannot connect, check to see if URL correct. Typically the one that is displayed when there is no connection to an ISP. OR that it is a SQL host problem and to report the error to the SQL provider, except there is not error message. Everything else on this site works as expected. The Time Warner speed test, which is my ISP, runs. I realize that this is not a true indicator of speed. Why wouldn't good results come from a self-regulating body? Anyway, I like the idea of dynamic addressing for the safety it gives. Nothing nefarious just safe browsing,
