  1. Mediacom doesn't suck... it just that they are behind on technology HERE a bit... they will be updating very shortly... like in the next two months. They have a special just for gamers. Has 5 mbits. Not too shabby.
  2. I just talked to them, they said that they are upgrading their service to 5 Mbits in the next three months. And thank god its available in my area. I have to pay an extra ten bucks a month, but oh well. Small price to pay for better speed.
  3. Mediacom is the only high speed internet available in my area, unfortunately. I am gonna call them and see if they will upgrade our service sometime soon. I doubt it.
  4. I also use Mediacom... I had a question for you though. What download speeds do you get with Mediacom? I get shit... 350 down, 30 up.
  5. I'm on Cable from Mediacom, and anyone here who uses them realizes what crap they really are. Anyways, heres my current download and upload speed: (Download): Your connection is: 2876 Kbps (about 2.9 Mbps) You downloaded at: 351 KB/s Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 3077 Kbps :: 376 KB/s (7% overhead factored) Bottom Line: You are running: 51 times faster than 56K and can download 1 megabyte in 2.92 second(s) Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 32.78 % faster than the average for host (mchsi.com) (Upload): Your connection is: 269 Kbps (about 0.3 Mbps) You uploaded at: 33 KB/s Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 288 Kbps :: 35 KB/s (7% overhead factored) Bottom Line: You are running: 5 times faster than 56K and can upload 1 megabyte in 31.03 second(s) Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 21.72 % faster than the average for host (mchsi.com) I tried using Cablenut, and speedguides TCP Optimizer, but they only seem to SLOW my connections speed. I didn't know if I was selecting a wrong setting or what... but I used Vans cablenut settings, and it seems to be working for everyone else... BUT ME. Thats kind of silly. Whatever the case, can someone, specifically Van, give me any suggestions on what I should do and what settings I need to use in order to see faster results? Thanks!
  6. Dude, I used this cablenut program, and the only god damn thing is did was slow down my system. NOTHING IMPROVES. Van, you're settings didn't do a damn thing for me, what the hell? I used to download around 350, now I'm at 320. How the hell?? What settings... actaully. Let me put it this way. What should I use in order to improve my NOT... ACCEPTABLE results??? I was advertised 3 Megabits, but I don't even get that. I get 2.8, and its annoying. I am sorry, but I am about to destroy everything if I don't see any better results and soon. -Dave
  7. Thats the thing, I thought of that too... I go only on servers with pings lower than 40 ms... Usually around 30, and my ping is at 200 still. Every server I go to is the same ping. Or pretty close to it.
  8. I tried tweaking with the speedguides TCP Optimizer, and the Cablenut program, but both only SLOWED my connection to the internet. Nothing improved... its pathetic.
  9. (Download): Your connection is: 2867 Kbps
  10. I have two computers that download around 350 KB/sec (According to the tests here), but when I play games online, I get a ping of about 300 ms. This is rediculous, because it never done this before. This computer has a Radeon card, and the other one has GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB card. I don't really understand why my ping went from 50 ms to 300 in just a matter of three days. They never were this bad before. Anyone know any tips or suggestions on what I should do to improve my ping? Its really... REALLY bad. Both computers run with Windows XP Professional SP2, and have ALL the updates installed. I literally just formatted them both, so they are running in top shape. Its just the internet doesn't seem to be doing that. I hate being killed, and not know about it until twenty seconds later. It sucks. Feels like dial-up all over again. Heres the specs: (Download) Your connection is: 2867 Kbps
