  1. You probably have a different router and the login to the router will likely be a different IP address, but the general instruction below may be helpful in getting you port configuration correct: Want to share some information I recently obtained while trying to correct a slow download speed issue. The Verizon Tech replaced my old D-Link DI-624 router with subject router and I was still getting horrible download speeds in the range of less than 1 Mbps (paying for 15/2). The tech was getting 15/2 on his laptop through the router. The key for me was change the port configuration setting to Full Duplex 100 on each connection. After I did this...I got the full 15/2. To change this setting. login to your actiontec (192.168.1.1). Click on Advanced at top right. Click yes to proceed. Click on Port Configuration. On the ports that are connected, click on the drop down arrow and select 100 Full Duplex. I had two ports connected so I did this on both. Worked like a charm. The previous auto settings did not open the router to its fastest potential. If you ever need to reboot the router, this setting will be set back to auto and you will need to change the port configuration again. Please let me know if this helps
  2. Try setting your router's port configuration to "Full Duplex 100". It may say "Auto" for each connection. I had a similar problem with my router and it worked for me.
  3. Jeff, Thanks for the link. Devicescape looks like a great service. Do you think that using this service would solve my problem? Have you had similar problems that were helped by this service? DTP
  4. My laptop (upstairs 2nd floor townhouse) intermittently connects then loses its wireless connection. It always reconnects within a few seconds. When connected the connection is shown as excellent with all green bars. When connected the download speeds are approaching 15/2 as is should. I have a new actiontec wireless router (MI424WR) on the lowest floor and have the antenna pointed horizontally. All computers on the network has been optimized for FIOS, all have been defragged, and optimized using both PC Optimizer 2.0 and Norton Utilities, registry cleans, etc. I have repaired the Wireless connection several times on the 2nd floor laptop. All to no avail. It keeps on cycling on and off. Anyone have any suggestions? The Verizon tech rep suggested the antenna position, and moving the wireless phone from near the errant laptop. I have not moved the phone yet. That would be problematic, but not impossible. In the meantime, if there is something I am missing about my setup, I would appreciate the information. Thanks, DTP

The verizon tech was clueless and did not even know how to access the router. Please let me know if this helps anyone.
