  1. Actually there are laws against selling children in the USA. I hope you were joking.
  2. I dumped AT&T as my carrier long ago. Funny but doesn't the recent AT&T buyout of Bellsouth violate the Anti-trust orders of The US Federal Courts to seperate sections of Bell telephone???
  3. DVD43 Free & DVDShrink.... so far this combo will copy anything made (ARCOS go bye bye), and doesn't need large amounts of Hard Drive space and double ripping like the DVD Decrypter/DVDShrink combo does..
  4. Actually he may have a virus trying to access the file, or a failed attempt at trying to change a file or directory's attributes can cause XP to glitch up and try to access the file all the time. Maybe an error scan of the disk would fix the problem. And for sure run a good virus scan.
  5. Longhorn Beta 2 build 5270 x86 Longhorn Beta 2 build 5270 x64 Both current builds, about 3 builds from golden from what I have read, probably 95% complete.
  6. I have tried the beta of Vista 32bit and 64bit on 2 machines. Vista is a Hardware HOG!!! Like trying to run XP on a 486, and the 2 machines were an Athlon64 3200 and AMD Sempron 3000, both with a Nvidia FX5700 in em. I read an article that stated that only about 50% of brand new computers will be able to run Vista. It truly IS a conspiracy to force people to upgrade, gates himself has all but admitted it.
  7. GiPo@FileUtilities That is what I use, it can move copy or delete files at windows startup. It can also create "Hardlinks" to files (objects that look like files but more than one can point to the same data on the disk).
  8. This is what is happening to my 3000/512 connection which was perfect until a couple of months ago. I have 2 friends in the same area who have the same problem. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1445 Kbps about 1.4 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 176 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1) Test Time:: Sun Feb 12 2006 02:19:45 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 26X faster than 56K 1MB download in 5.82 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 88.22 % of your hosts average (tds.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-G5QBR8AIL :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 387 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Upload Speed is:: 47 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (server1) Test Time:: Sun Feb 12 2006 02:21:56 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 7X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 21.79 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 16.57 % faster than the average for host (tds.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-VWN0FH98Y
  9. Probably an oversubbed ISP like mine.....really nothing to do unless you have more than one broadband ISP in your area (I dont).
  10. Considering this and the whole Vista mess I think it may be time to start getting a little more friendly with Linux.
  11. Actually I would reccomend Uploading at 20 or even 15
  12. Get a zero-fill utility from the drive manufacturer website, or get DBAN (Dariks Boot And Nuke) and run a zerofill/quick wipe from it. I have squeezed extra life out of problem drives by using just a good ol zero-fill utility. Be aware that EVERYTHING stored on your drive will be ERASED.
  13. If it had been line noise it would have showed up in the logs in the "modem". That fix of new phone lines sounds fishy to me. Qwest must have done something else too.
  14. The blue frog ate too many system resources and took too long to open, it's utorrent(mutorrent) all the way now.
