  3. lol . . .I am a 58 year old grandmother who has been online for 12 years and using computers for 15 years. Before that I dabbled with BB sending messages with my telephone. The first computer I messed with was a Commodore 64. I know there many people over the age of 50 that are online and do much more than dabble with email or even forums. I can take computers apart and rebuild them. I can tweak a puter like a champ. I think the most fun is building a computer and tweaking the core to the limit with no crashes. I will do this before I even put it in the case. So just because a few of us are old does not mean we do not know a thing about computers. Ja'Krinda
  4. I don't know ya but Happy Birthday anyways EWO. I just made 58 on September 7th myself.
  5. I live in San Diego CA and these are my current Cox HSI speeds using a Texas server: I have 7000/512 and the past few days I have been having low upload speeds, between 342 and 396 Ja'Krinda
  6. I am curious! If you live in San Diego, CA why do you use WB? There are other satellite providers here! Ja'Krinda
  7. Finally I did a speed test that partially reflects my speed, 9000/768. My upload is still off, but then I am using Texas servers to test on and I am in San Diego, CA:
  8. Thanks I have Cox HSI here in San Diego, CA. The speed test banner up above says Host: cox.net. Your speeds are faster than mine, at least they are here. Ja'Krinda
  9. Not at all! It is just a well known fact that the closer you are to a server the less congestion there is. And a default copy of Windows will probably not achieve your purchased speed with a distant speed test server, especially if you have a fast connection! I have tweaked my TCP/IP stack to maximize my speeds but anything east of the "Rockies" deteriorates in speed. And I chalk this up to my connection because any tests done to a server in the Western portion of the US gives me respectable speeds. Why should I continue to test on a server that gives me lower speeds than what I purchased? I do test here but I take into consideration the distance. Ja'Krinda
  10. I found TMN in May of 2005. I was then living in Aubrey, TX and I needed a test server that was close in proximity to where I lived for testing my speeds. The server I had been using for the eight and a half years prior was on the West Coast where I used to live and the time to get there was very slow from Texas. The same with East Coast servers. Now that I am back in Southern California I use my old test server because there are five of them here in California, two of them being less that 150 miles from me. My scores are way too low using Texas servers now as you will see below. Ja'Krinda I have 9000/768
  11. I just tried sending you an invite but could not because it said you had already been sent an invite (by Coknuck???) jakrinda
