Upgrading the firmware was the first thing I did. The latest firmware for this router was dated May 2004, so the router I purchased had to have been in the supply pipeline long before that. I'm not down on Linksys as a whole; I do have other equipment by Linksys that is functioning well, just not the BEFSR41 and BEFSR81.

I'll be happy if the NetGear WGR614 performs well
I'll report on it as soon as I receive and install it.

So, the NetGear WGR614 v5 arrived yesterday, and, after some difficulty with setup (the setup program "detected" that my ISP provided a "static" IP when, in-fact, the IP is dynamic) solved by powering cycling the modem while the router was powered up, I'm happy to report that I am at full speed with Comcast, and getting 4052 Kbps this morning. I've read some troubling posts on other blogs about some difficulties others had with DHCP hiccups (in versions 3 & 4), but, hopefully, this new version 5 unit has addressed those concerns. So far so good .......................

Best speed on the Linksys BEFSR81 v3 (and also the BEFSR41 v3 which I previously purchased and returned) was around 2200 Kbps, and the NetGear was $29 (after rebate) as compared with the Linksys BEFSR81 at $79. Plus I now have another wireless access point with the WGR614
BTW, my old NetGear RO318 (which is incompatible as a router with XBox Live) is functioning well, now, as an 8-port switch linked to the WGR614. All in all, not a bad upgrade brought on by Microsoft's changing the way they handle XBox Live communications.

Got it for $10.. hate this piece.. Getting it to work for once connection.. awesome! 2 connection pain in the ass. The real funny thing is that it didnt ship with the latest firmware update on it.

Belkin Wireless Router (F5D72304)
•802.11g technology
•Up to 54Mbps in turbo mode
•Built-in 4-port switch
•Firewall security
•Easy-install wizard
•Range up to 1800'
I got the from circuitcity for $39.99 I got them to match the price from Best Buy.
I have it connected to my cable modem and from the router I have my desktop pc connected via cat5 and a WPA network set up for my Inspiron 9300. the router is great it was easy to set up. I have had it for about three weeks now and it is always on and have never had a single issue with it. I also have used Linksys, D-Link, and Netgear routers and switches and this one has the nicest interface and is the easiest to set up.
