Northruption, some time back they up graded the servers here in Northern Kentucky and split the system because it was way over sold. Plus there are only 65 people on my node according to level 2. Also I'm the last house on this line, it stops at my house. When I do the 2992 test I get around 6 Mbps and on a 5983 test I get around 4.6Mbps. I guess I'm lucky to be where I am.

How do you find out information like how many people are on a node, and where the line ends?

you prob need to call your internet provider and talk to one of the techs if you want to know that

You are lucky if you get the 6 mbps on a 4 MB package. I live in IL and they just merged to the Sprint Network. They atleast provided me with a new cable modem(WEBSTAR I believe). Now I cant pull over 3.8 mb although sicne the switch the internet is so much more reliable. I just want my 4.5 mbps back that I used to have. I understand I get good speeds for only $30 /month but I want my close to 500kb/s bakc on downloads. I max out at 375kb/s now. Upload is still lousy though. If only Comcast was 200 miles closer to me , I could get the speed upgrades they are proposing. :(

PS: I run a Linksys WRT54G router and a WebStar modem.Does anyone know anyways to improve speeds?

I mean I got better speeds with my old modem but the new one has so many caps one it that its not funny. I cant even see stats from the new  modem cause they have it locked. The router just gets laggy at times but the speed difference is usually only about 50k.

you would be able to find out how many people are on your node but not where it ends. that would be a queestion for a service tech

Have you used TCP optimizer?.  Download it, set it for 4500K, ( be sure to select the ethernet port that your modem is connected from the dropdown and reboot.  I was in the same boat til I used the program, and now I am consistently around 400-4500K 575kbs and avg 15-20% than avg insightbb customer.

insight dont "lock" modems, some modems dont have internal dhcp servers for internal pages. whats the model number?

How are you all getting that great upload and download speeds?  I have insightbb and recently went to Vonage and all my calls are garbled going out.  I can hear them fine.  Tech said that my upload speed sucked.
