Shug7272:  The one I worked at was a medium security prison.  Fairly laid back.  But it did have it's moments. I spent 5 years in the cellblocks - little different there.  Really not much physical work for your pay.  RN's do OK, LPN's fair.  Louisiana isn't known for high wages.  I had good people to work with.  Thats what I miss when I retired.  All in all pretty good - depending on the warden.

13 and lovin' it! :) Lol 90+ to the poll. Maybe all of you seniors can tell me the truth...about drugs!
Well to tell the truth. One short one. I went over to my gandma's one time early in the morning, and was talking to her. And she  told me that us teens thought that we had something new with these drugs and such. She said that there was relatively little difference between then and now, except that they did not go around bragging about it.
I pretty much think that your powders su*k. If you younger fella's would leave that cr*p alone you would be a lot better off. A little smoke and brew won't hurt you too much. But that other stuff will eat up your cells. I have several somewhat retarded friends like that. Literally!

You know what is the biggest killer in any neighborhood, powders!

edit...grammar...careful!!

Hi Altoidz

"13 and lovin' it!  Lol 90+ to the poll. Maybe all of you seniors can tell me the truth...about drugs! "

And so you should , 13 is a great age to be, 2 years older than my grandson,
Altoidz, you ever seen a druggie lovin’ it at any age, me neither ,
Even us guy’s who smoke Cigs. wished we didn’t , yeah being older does not mean we are wiser, but it gives us the ability to see our mistakes, and impart our wisdom to the young,
Who by nature won’t listen, LOL if they did they would be to smart for their boots,
I have spent the past 10 years working for a UK charity helping people with problems,
Most of life’s problems can be solved , maybe with a little help, but once your head is gone there isn’t no turning back  , drugs = problems, crime , rehab, problems , crime , jail
And another wasted life,   just look around  !
You are a bright guy , and have asked a sensible question, also  a member of testmy net,
Just don’t loose all that,  but most of all enjoy your life , it maybe the only one you will get,

My age is in my profile .It's the correct one.
I never got into the harder drugs even if I turned 13 in 1966 kind of in the hippie era.I did smoke too much medicinal herb but even quite it in 1985.Drug free since.

hey cholla... i turned 13 in 1966 too...but i'm never old :D ...i didn't get into drugs either...didn't even try the "medicinal herb" til i was 19...i had heard that all illegal substances caused birth defects...it was the propaganda of the time...and since my goal was to have 5 babies...i couldn't take any chances...so while my friends were getting high...i just sat back and thought they were all just stupid...and they thought i was a drag...over half of those people are dead now...mostly from the aftermath of lifetime drug addictions...was always sad to see someone i knew come thru my hospital as a patient...that used to be so beautiful...and to see them in the state they were in that day...wow...and that wasn't just one person...some of u know what i'm talking about...some are wondering..."what the hell is she saying?"...drug addictions ruin lives...families...good people...drug addictions kill people before they are even dead

hey who's 90+???

I would be the first to say." Say no to Drugs" now.One of the girls I ran around with way back then ODed at 16.I started later than a lot of my friends.I was 17.Way to young if there was a right age to start.I didn't quit as soon as I should have either. But there aren't any time machines or I would go back & never start.I fortunatly don't have any health problems from it that I know of.As far as I know most of my group of friends are still alive .Most left town & I only hear from them once in awhile.I like Amarillo so I stayed here. The only one that is still here was & probably still is an alcholic. He tripped while drunk & broke his neck & is now in a wheel chair.

Hey cholla:  I beat you in quitting drugs. Mine was nicotine.  In '82 a Neurosurgeon at Tulane in New Orleans told me if I didn't quit cigarettes that real, real soon I was gonna be dead or worse; be a veggie in a bed drooling with no chance of recovery.  Guess what !!! I believed him and quit that day in Feb. 1982 after 25 years of smoking.
Cold Turkey!!!  TIA's are not funny !!!  TIA's are mini-strokes - not funny at all. Proud for you for quitting!!!

EWO ; I have to congratulate anyone that beats tobacco.I understand nicotine is hard to quit. The herb is also hard for some people to quit it was for me.I tried to just taper off several times but only cold turkey worked for it as well.
One effect I remember is a lot of strange very vivid dreams.I guess the neurons were beginning to fire again.they say herb effects the synapsis( not sure I spelled that correct).
To those that say it isn't addictive .I say if it's not addictive to you great it was to me.I guess like alcohol to an alcoholic.
