Upragded My NET..Help

Hi guys , this month i have upgraded my bellsouth from 1.2 megs to 3 megs , the guy told me i had to wait til the end of the month for the service to be in my area . Well its the end of the month and i still have 1.2 megs.I need help!

1. Do i need to reset my Modem to have the 3 megs?
2. Router?
