Though long expected, Cingular will be renamed AT&T starting Monday. To promote the switch (and usher in BellSouth's integration), AT&T will launch the largest ad campaign in the company's history (which is saying something), notes Ad Week. There's a lot of signs and shirts to swap as well -- 2,000 nationwide company-owned wireless retail outlets and p-o-p kiosks have to change their signs, and about 15,000 store employees will begin wearing AT&T-branded uniforms.

no, Cingular was started by SBC and Bellsouth. SBC bought AT&T changed there name to AT&T because its a better name, so they owned 1/2 of Cingular for the last year or so now just recently AT&T bought Bellsouth. so now they own it all, and are the largest land line, internet service provider, and wireless provider on the planet.

I remember when BellSouth Mobility was rebranded to Cingular. It actually took a few months before my phone displayed the new name. Wonder how long it's going to be this time.

I've never like AT&T much, their old cellular service was shotty at best. I constantly had issues with it...lets hope they don't turn Cingular into the same problem (on Verizon now).

AT&T has almost offered great service. It is the pricing when they get so big that hurts. ( I know, not right now )

AT&T's pricing is great, there DSL for the same speed is almost 1/2 the price for it through bellsouth. And they offer naked DSL so bye bye home phone that i never use.
