I don't know how this fits in directly, but I believe if no $$ exchanges hands it should all be cool. Sharing and bartering between individuals should always be free.

the judge (or rather the jury) isn't going to ask you how you feel about the riaa or the mpaa. they're going to look at the law and the attorney's arguments. we can agree to disagree i think wether widespread p2p sharing of any file should be legal or not, i think i made my side clear: private and non p2p noncommercial intrafriend sharing only.

Your right, but i doubt they will touch me, I have a unsecured wireless router and this defense has already worked.... could have been anybody on my connection.

the thing about the wireless routers is a whole other can of worms. they should be locked by the manufacturer by default and you should have to call them up or register online or something to use them just to make sure you know what's up and are protected.
using stupidity as a defense should double the penalty.
and tommie, nothing against sharing among friends, but bartering would mean something of value is exchanged for a service, that means you would be giving me a copy in exchange for a form of payment. that is a nono in my eye.

If I fix your car and you fix my computer and no money exchanges hands no one should get a damned dime. That is bartering.

I'm sticking with Reso on this.
You aren't offering your service tommie, you're offering someone else's product.

For you deary, I will always offer my service.
I was just mentioning what I figured fair was. Bartering and sharing. I in no way know if it is the same as what this post is about. But they are definately charging too much also.
