Curious about the speeds everyone is getting, and where you're getting them. I'm in southwestern Michigan, in the sticks, near Jackson. These speeds are about the norm for me. Actually, they're usually better in Linux.

::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..::::::::::
Download Connection is:: 936 Kbps about 0.94 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 114 kB/s
Upload Connection is:: 494 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 60 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net (Server 1)
Test Time:: 2007/05/23 - 8:07pm

Note: If your speed test shows over 2.4Mbps, please don't post it. It's inaccurate, faked, corrupted. Simply put, not real. Read the page about ##DATA tuning because your HA is using a transparent proxy with compression.

It's not that. Certain HA's use some sort of compression. I did make that point in my original post and asked not to post them, but I guess that was "overlooked".

I was at my friends house last weeken and he has Sprint EVDO, he gets about 1Mbps down and 80Kbps up.  Any reason why his upload is so slow?  If i go there over this weeken again, i'll do a speed test and post it.

Upload is likely slow because it's Rev 0. Glad my thread turned into what I was absolutely trying to avoid.

Sprint is $59.99/month, I have only satellite or EVDO at my location. My ping times are way lower than satellite.

Well ya see grandpa, this friend of mine named of grandpa, hey you might know him his name is a bit much like yours.  :wink2: Said it was in the signal strength. are you using an antennae yet?

What is your  signal strenght and are you using the TCP Optimizer yet? I think that about covers it.  :smiley:

By the way I am running a -69 signal right now.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 885 kbps (110.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

The next question is do you know how to find the signal running a PX500 card and the Linksys WRG54G3G-ST router.

Latest testing;
http://www.speedtest.net
There seems to be a problem in the uploading throughput in the router card setup but I do get  better uploads (at about 260 kB/sec) on my 2 other machines running XP Pro. This machine is Win2000 and worked well on satellite.

Here is the same PC just test at Sprint.com;
