Ok, I was trying to test out my monitor with this game and for some reason when i try to run it or the special forces expansion pack, it will go to a black screen like its loading, then crash back to my desktop. any ideas? i could reinstall no problem, but i want to save that for last. and no i havent hacked or anything, but i did use the weapons unlocker to see what the hype about the M95 rifle in the game was about, but i used it in single player with bots then got rid of it...and i've played online since then.

its not very easy for anyone to diagnose a game crash by not giving us a lot more details......its just blind guessing

Ok, so i plugged in my new monitor, booted up, and decided to test it ingame with battlefield 2. Well i put the CD in the drive, double clicked the icon on my desktop. and it went to a black screen before even loading anything and crashed to my desktop with no errors. I had played it earlier, but it seems that it doesnt work since my monitor. I know it will run it maxed out. Thats all i know about it. I have the newest patch...
I'm honestly not sure how to describe it without showing it. but My resolution and refresh rates are both different. i went from a 72hertz to a 60 hertz refresh rate.

turn off the vertical sync....its by default set to application controlled, but set it to off - thats in your video/graphics card settings

well its unlikely to be related to your new monitor really, its just a plug and play device and it should work without any problems....
are you actually saying that it only crashes while your new monitor is connected ?

yes i am saying that.
After reading your post about vsync, and that not working, I decided it was the monitor. so I went into my documents folder and deleted the profiles folder from the bf2 section and redid my profiles and it worked. so It was the monitor trying to use my old settings before letting me change anything. now it works fine...except i wish the resolution options went higher than 1280x1024 for 60hertz refresh rate...
thanks for posting, without your posts i wouldnt have realized my monitor was the problem.
