Hi everyone,
I would like to know if there is any free anti-virus software to download (along with the option of automatic updates) for Windows XP? Most of the free anti-virus programs (such as AVG) do come for free but when trying to search for the updates, will ask for a key inorder to work properly.. Is there a work around for that? Infact, is there such a free anti-virus software?

Thanks for all your replies..

Thanks buddy for your advise.. Is it true that Avast slows down the computer's performance over a periodic amount of usage? I'm not sure if this is true.. But can you shed some of your experiences (both PROS and CONS) with Avast or any other free anti-virus software, you've been using till now..
Thanks a lot man.. I appreciate your reply..

i just wanna say that with avast, it won't scan big, compressed files. it will consider it a decompression bomb, a compressed file that is small, but actually produce a a very big file when extracted, so big it fills up your memory and shuts you down.

anyway, that didn't happen with avg.

That would make a hell of a sig, sst!  :2funny:

I don't understand the " Most of the free anti-virus programs (such as AVG) do come for free but when trying to search for the updates, will ask for a key inorder to work properly" statement. I use AVG free edition and it updates almost every day by itself as soon as I turn the machine on.  :wink2:
