Ok so one of my buds got this new pc but he doesn't have an antivirus.
Now, which antivirus can i give him to use, since he doesn't have internet connection ?
the only thing i can think of right now that has an offline auto updater is norton, i know avg has one too but has issues when updating or what-not.
any ideas about an AV he can use so i can give him a virus def every week or so ?
Offline Antivirus

your friend's pc can be infected with a virus thru diskettes, flash disks and even cd copies w/c contain 'em so you gotta give him an anti-virus. i recomment Nod32. however, i do not know any offline updating with nod 32. what your going to do to upgrade its virus definitions is to bring your friend's cpu to your house and connect it thru your internet at least twice a month, its gonna keep his pc clean.

Yeah AVG works perfectly that way.
Updating offline won't be a pain.

AsRock M266A. 3.0X
1.70 gigahertz Intel Celeron
Dual Boot: Windows XP SP 2 and Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope)
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000
512 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0 Version 4.0
Virus Definitions Version Up To Date
Realtime File Scanning On
Whether its online or offline I will still recommend ESET NOD32 Antivirus... Updating this offline is very tricky sometimes it accepts the update & sometimes it doesn't and gives off error messages on your screen... if you wanted to be more hassle free then what can I suggest is to use Avast... no screen nags & update files can be easily downloaded on their website & the updates are easy to install... I use Avast on my Ubuntu just in case there's an outbreak on my Windows XP and you'll never know when it will happen cause sometimes I get stupid

I have got to ask even though this thread is long dead. I wonder why he was not hooked up. There is even free dial up if nothing else.
