So I have the 6mb connection with Comcast and in the last 2 to 3 days the internet became very slow. That eventually led me here where what I found astounded me. Speeds similar to this:
:::.. Download Stats ..:::
Download Connection is:: 155 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 512 kB)
Download Speed is:: 19 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (Main)
Test Time:: 2008/10/03 - 4:00am
Bottom Line:: 3X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 53.89 sec
Tested from a 512 kB file and took 27.027 seconds to complete
Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 2.48 % of your hosts average (comcast.net)
D-Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-PVI4Q97TE
User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 NET_mmhpset [!]
I contacted Comcast through there online chat where they proceeded to reset the modem on their end, then had me turn off my computer and reset my modem. After I did all that, what I found was that my internet no longer worked at all for the past 5 hours. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work, when randomly it started working again, but still at these horrendously slow speeds.
So, I ask, any ideas what could be the problem? For the record, I did a bunch of virus, adware, etc. scans and cleaned my computer as well as cleaned my registry. I'm gonna give them a call some time tomorrow, assuming it doesn't get fixed by then.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Unbelievably Slow speeds

Maybe do scans in safe mode, there might be something nasty running in the memory.

Just wanted to let you know, the internet completely died not too long after I posted that message. Called Comcast the next day. They got a technician out earlier today and it turns out that the modem they gave me was faulty. They swapped it out with a new one and everything is back in tip-top shape.
Thanks for the reply's though, I really do appreciate it.
And in case you were wondering:
