Im using nvidia performance monitor (similal to Ntune) to tune with.

Ive read on multiple forums that my processor runs very well at almost 3ghz by raising the FSB from 267 to 333. The only problem is that by doing this im severly OCing my memory and casuing an instant crash. how do I just OC the processor? is there a multiplyer value for the ram?

I would read up on this site. http://www.xbitlabs....y/oc-guide.html

I have heard that some newer dells are restricted to overclocking.

You can also read up about overclocking a core 2 Quad here.

http://www.hardforum...d.php?t=1198647

Most enthusiasts motherboards and some of the cheaper motherboards have a option to change the memory multiplier in the BIOS. Core 2 usually like the CPU FSB and the memory to run at a 1 to 1 ratio. Like Mtal1ca said most manufacture computers do not give you the options in the BIOS you need to get a good overclock. If you are successful and able to overclock your computer make sure you download REAL TEMP to monitor the CPU temps.

If you are able to overclock better invest a better heatsink and fan. Stock fans suck, and like buntz said download a temp monitor so you wont cook that cpu

Thanks for the advice. fotunetly Dell uses massive heatpipes and fans in the xps machines. And my tuning softeware monitors temps.

I still just cant find a bios setting to change the memory speed....

When you go into the BIOS what are the options that it give you. List all of them.

Actually the stock intel one sucks. The one dell uses in there XPS is actually pretty damn good. Its a copper stack with a fan cover to direct air directly through the fins. You could over clock with the stock heatsink pretty good.

And since its a custom Dell motherboard there would be no mount to put a after market heat sink on unless you got one that has the same base as the dell.

Yah the intel fans do suck i never use them always aftermarket. Yah i guess you couldn't put an aftermarket on it. Just try and keep plenty of air flow

Maric117 why would you waste money on a killernic? It makes 0 Difference. Its not going to give you higher FPS, or drop your ping. If you want to drop your ping get a better connection.

As well that powersuppy you have there isn't the greatest, I would go with something from Antec or SeaSonic.

That is one really nice computer you are building. I agree with dlewis23 you do not need the nic card and I would go with a better known power supply. Those 3 graphic card are going to need a lot of good clean power.
