sup guys I am a n00bie here
but I need some help any would be great
My computer specs. are:
         Dell Dimension 4600i
         Intell Pentium 4 2.66GHz  (speed: 2660MHz)
        ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 9200 128mb ddr
        1GB  ram
         80GB & 120 GB HDs
XP -Pro SP2 all updates current
connection : Charter high speed  3Mbs down 256 up

now that that's outta the way , here is my problem :
for the past month iI have been getting anywhere from exactly 3Mbs dwnload speed to all the way down at 56K download speeds
Charter has run test from their main server to my house through the lines & say that all signals are comeing back great ( whatever)
Also when I boot up my computer I'm online for about 10 minutes then , BOOM  , the little icon pops up on the task bar saying I have an internet connection unplugged ( last for bout 2 seconds ) then goes right back to normal
speeds have been ok for bout 2 weeks now but keep getting the network connection plug thing popping up
I usually have to reboot  my router , then my cable modem , then my computer befor it stops.
one last thing I'll ry to post a screen shot of this  ( don't if it will do right or not ) but what does it mean???
I can't do a system restore like it says to do because I had to turn it off the other day to get a trojan out.
All online virus scans are comeing up clear now as well as my own
Adaware & Spybot S&D show no signs of anything either
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

VanBuren  I have already done that
when I was talking with my ISP
they had me do that to.Same thing happened.
They also had me boot up in
safemode and run the test from this
page. ( why this page & not Toast.net like the always do?because I don't like Java never have don't knnow why just don't,so I don't have it on my dektop or my laptop). The result was that my speed was what it was supposed to be.But the connection thing
still came on.When rebooted normally the soeed went back down to less than half of whatit was supposed to be.
That was when I found out I had a trojan in my computer.AVG found it but could not get it out.I had to do the online
one fom Panda. Finally got it out.Have any other ideas I might be able to try out????
Do you think the cablenut thing I see you all talkin bout might help me out.I need to find a solution this as soon as
possible.I'm haveing withdrawls from my online gameing.    I need my fix man.
Seriously though do you think it would help keep me a constant dwnloa & upload speed. I'm not expecting a miricle
but the word on these forums are that you guys are the one's t come to.Oh yeah , I forgot to mention that
my ISP had sent me a QCR.exe & I had to send the results back to em. The result : They are haveing their techs look
at it & they will get back in touch with me ( it's benn 3 weeks now since I've heard that   :angry5:).Anyways tell me
what ya think my next step should be.Thanks in advance.

one last question : how can I improve the speeds posted above in the previos post ??
the router I'm useing is a D-Links wireless & the cable modem is a Motorola ( only my laptop is wireless though )

leave cablenut as it is, do not apply any tweaks before your connection is stable again.

try uninstall your firewall and install one of the free version from the steps, also manual set your duplex mode for your NIC

call your ISP and ask if you can lend a new modem, i dont think its in your PC, and you said you already tried to bypass router and it was the same

I don't think that would help because the modem I am useing right now was just purchased new by me last week , I to thought that was what it might be.The old cable modem I had was a D-Links the one I am currently useing ow is a Motorola.Everything sems to be running fine now.My speeds are staying constant & no more connection issues.Think I might be able to squeeze a little more out of it? Or do you think I'm already maxing out?
