I have used Ccleaner for a year or more , and found it works well ,
and sure speeds up my puter, after clearing the surfing crap ,

now there is a download program availible from the makers   http://www.piriform.com/
it gives a quick start tray icon to run the clean up part of the program ,without finding it in "my programs "   also they have a program Defrager availible , that for me sure beats the Microsoft XPbuilt in defragment tool ,  running both for a few months on several computers   without a problem ,

Yep, been using the defraggler since last summer and happy also. I did like the previous version that showed what it took out a bit better though. And have found no way to retrieve the old style one.

Hi Tommie , I ran both versions , the only thing I would like to see in the latest version is the colour code
on it's progress  without having to clck on help"> drive legend "  I kind like the old win 95-Me style , of showing the defragmentation screen , I spent many happy hours watching the  win 95 defrag sceen
as I only had 16Mb of memory , and that was double the amount I had on the same box  running
win 3.1 ,
Boot times ? , I could make a cup of tea and a sandwich, and eat it   before I hit the log in screen ,
now on dual core Xp pro ( so only about 5 years behind the times )  but it boots in 28 seconds
are puters getting quicker ? or as I fear, maybe I am getting slower  :evil6:
