anyone having a problem downloading or finding the free version ?
Grisoft free AVG site redirects me to Cnet  ( it's there ,but downloads at 32KB ,)    I might not live that long
I also noted AVG is now  AVG Technologies, , I got that feeling the free version is on the way out ,

sure the Grisoft site says free download , which is entirely different to free to use , it only runs 30 days or so , then it's $$$ in the small print ,
at the moment I am running ver 8 , and all is OK , but I have started looking around at alternatives  ,
just hope I am wrong on my doubts ,

Try download it from here. http://www.filehippo...avg_antivirus/  I have had good luck when downloading from here.

I read somewhere that they were try to get more people to download the pay version . I guess they are not making enough money off the program.

Is it me or is AVG anti-virus getting bloated. The download lists as 57.2MB.. But the way they updated to version 8.0 did fool some in to thinking they needed to pay for version 8.
Avast is only 28.9MB.
And I know that other products have crept up in their size for whatever reason.

I remember when I used Symantec's Norton security suite years ago and it had some killer sized updates. And being on Dialup at that time, I really didn't care for that, so I switched..

I think you are right on that Buntz, get a free fan base then apply the $$$ , and retire in comfort ,
BTW, thanks for the link , it was a bit faster , it only took 8min 10 seconds !, but I have speed issues over here  in the UK anyway , I just done some tests , my .5Mbps DSL has dropped to less than I Mbps ,but we got flooding and high winds in the UK, maybe the reason ,

I switched to NOD32 because it works better! Avast works well also.

Yeah I used to be able to swear by AVG but lately its been crap and the trojan that did get in AVG is not detecting it

I have made the switch to Avast

All this bloated software is making me slowly but surely run linux more and more as my main operating system

Weird, I am still on 7.5 AVG. Its only 36.56MB. And still running like a top. And yes it updates daily. And not 1 notice to upgrade in the last month.  :evil6:
