I have recieved an "old" computer from a friend that said that it suddenly stopped working, so it's mine now and I am trying to diagnose the problem to see where the fault is. When I switch the power on, the cpu fan starts, and I realized that the gpu fan didn't start, so I changed it for another one, which now works but is not screwed on the heatsink on the gpu. Now when I power the computer on, the cpu and gpu fans start but I get no post and no beep. I turned the computer on for a few minutes then turned it off and checked the heatskink temperature and it is not differentiable from that of the room, even with no fan on it (the fan is spinning but loose in the case. The first culprit I thought of would have been the video card that would have been fried, but wouldn't there have been a beep if that were the case. I would have liked to test the computer without a video card but the mobo doesn't have any video out, so I'm not too sure what to do. What do you think the culprit is?

Things that might be relevant:
-Mobo is Abit NF7-S
-I only connected power switch from the front pannel, no usb are connected
-My friend said he had recently added ram when it broke. I removed all but one stick of ram
-I just noted that the northbridge's fan doesn't spin either

Hmph, try changing out the video card since that board has no on board video controler. But if it was used for gaming, and the northbridge fan was out, you might be out of luck . They usually wont get that hot unless pushed. afaik anyhow.

Have you tried getting in the bios ?

There is nothing that shows up on the screen, so I can't get into the bios. There is no sign on the monitor that the computer was turned on.
I havent tried using the jumpers to reset the bios, might do that next since I took the battery out.
