HughesNet is far superior to Wildblue (after having a first nightmare experience with Wildblue).

UPTIME for Hughes is alot better than Wildblue.  SPEEDS are consistent with the plan you are signed up for (PRO PLUS here)  My signal strength is around 170, and get 1.5 Mbps 90% of the time (yes, a little slow down during "peak" hours, but never less than 1.2 Mbps).

This is using the HN9000 Modem and a newer style satellite on Spaceway 3 Satellite.

Hughes just had a $100 rebate for three days, so that made the activation FREE.

Tech Support is in India and Billing support is in the Phillipines. I've only had to call once to solve a minor issue.

As with any SATELLITE provider, there is FAP.  wildblue's goes on a rolling 30 day period,
while HUGHES goes on a daily limit.  I am allowed 425MB a day on the PRO PLUS.
HOWEVER, downloads between 2am and 7am DO NOT COUNT  against your usage.  I just use a download manager and schedule all my updates and huge files (I have downloaded up to 3GB during this period).

SO, while each service has its PROS and CONS, HUGHESNET in the long run has worked out better for me.

Im wondering if the FAP is more lenient or the uploads do not count towards the bucket of 425MB allowed and the recovery rate?

My usage for 3computers seems to have went over the limit, but did not get nailed?

still getting good speeds too, even in the evening.....for now anyway the advertised speeds are at or above package numbers.

Gimme 200 lashes with a wet noodle for EVER saying ANYTHING POSITIVE about HughesNet.
They are slime!

WHERE WAS MY MIND THAT DAY?    (OH, wait, I was still in the FIRST 30 DAYS of a second install
when things were "ok".)...Downhill as usual after 30 days.   The NOC took over.

Thought I read somewhere recently, that the spaceway3 may have a FAP free time during the FAPpable time, due to many people not being online at the time. Or else they are just freaking tweaking again.
Or, as in, your FAP bucket fills sooner.  Remember the days when they actually published the refill rate of the FAP bucket?  56Kbps refill rate, for one of the satellite Internet systems at the time.

FAP. FAP. FAP. FAP........Then your speeds get slowed down for watching all those Jpegs.

Before that video gets Modded...
It's a WildBlue speedTest.
With a Title of "The Hell Internet i Deal with Every Day"
.18Mbps download and .03Mbps upload and a ping of 1019.

Interesting that the IP on the test shows up as being the below. Even though it says WildBlue on the test as the ISP.

Tracing route to pool-74-104-128-37.bstnma.fios.verizon.net [74.104.128.37]
Which also has a nice enough 114ms ping .
