i carry this card in my wallet that guides me on what fish is healthy (like for salmon you want wild and trout you want fresh water)...and this post is similiar info...
Top 5 Low mercury…Heart healthy omega 3 fish
1. Salmon (wild): 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 2 ounces of fish;* 0.014 parts per million mercury concentration
2. Herring: 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 1 ounce of fish;* 0.044 parts per million mercury concentration
3. Sardines: 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 2-3 ounces of fish;* 0.016 parts per million mercury concentration
4. Trout (freshwater): 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 3-4 ounces of fish;* 0.072 parts per million mercury concentration
5. Pollock: 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids per 6.5 ounces of fish;* 0.041 parts per million mercury concentration
Tuna: Pretty close to the middle of the road, actually, with mercury concentration ranging from 0.12 to 0.69 parts per million, depending on what kind of tuna you eat. And you'll need to eat anywhere from 3.5-12 ounces to get 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids, depending on how you take your tuna: Fresh tuna has the most and canned chunk light tuna has the least. But chunk light tuna also has the least mercury.
Here's the list of fish to avoid:
King mackerel: 0.73 parts per million mercury concentration
Shark: 0.99 parts per million mercury concentration
Swordfish: 0.98 parts per million mercury concentration
Tilefish (Gulf of Mexico): 1.45 parts per million mercury concentration

Interesting that you stared this topic now, I've been consumed with my physical health and what I, and my family eat as a ritual.
I'de like to discuss the role that "boxed" starchy foods play . From what i understand, starches are used as preservatives in certain forms, and are converted to useless sugars in the body. Anyone ?
We don't eat many processed foods, sometimes, well whatever lol, ut it's not a big task to use real potatoes to bake fries, and or mashed taters, and we leave the skins on, that where the fiber or roughage comes in.
From where I sit, fiber is a main staple of your diet, if it isn't , then it should be, you'll know when you can poop, or your tired, or fell , and look all bloated in the gut, because there's muck in the works, and this causes so many different issues people need to realize if you just keep your colon clean, the difference in your life is astounding. We weren't meant o be eating all this junk were presented with. It's simply marketed towards your oh so busy life , that you can't seem to muster up the energy to feed yourself and your family something real. And this in my opinion plays a MAJOR role in more then 50% or "illnesses " today.

"A little of what you fancy does you good"?
Its probably the right way to go , we have greater choice of food than our ancestors did , but are we eating good food ? ,
well, we are on average taller , stronger, and live longer, so far, but the next generations are eating themselves into health problems , just look at the figures for teenage diabetes , etc ,
http://www.independe...omb-450278.html
They warned that the increasing prevalence of type-2 diabetes among young people could lead to a "serious public health challenge" in years to come.
The condition can lead to high blood pressure, blindness, the destruction of nerves and muscle, heart, liver and kidney disease, and psychiatric disorders. Left untreated, it can cause coma and death. Often the effects are worse in young people than they are in older adults.
personally I don't eat any fried food , use any salt , or other flavour enhancers , I prepare almost all my own food , very little red meat , and I eat seasonal food , salads in the summer , stews in the winter , and as a Brit, Fish twice a week ,
But then I am not a foodie , it's just fuel , just as long it is good fuel ,
But, I will confess to eating a Burger twice so far this year , and a small pizza , the one with the plastic cheese topping

And switch whole wheat for white. Much better for you.
Also switch milk, water, or tea for those horrible soda's. And drop all diet crap, its just made to deprive your body and kill you quicker.
