Apparently Avast has a bug in it at this moment(Dec.2.2009) and it is flagging some programs, etc. as being infected. when they are perfectly safe.

Do not delete found items or put in the chest. At this moment. Check with Google if they are real infections or a false positive.

It appears that the program is flagging a number of files used by entirely normal programs such as Skype, Spybot Search and Destroy and other programs incorrectly as the Win32:Delf-MZG trojan.

I'm glad I ignored the 'program update' ready to download notification the last couple of days.  :smile2:

EDIT: It stopped A-Squared from launching. So it's in the definition files......

Right click the Avast globe and click "stop on-access protection".

last night, avast had a bad false positive issue. At around 12:15am GMT we released VPS update 091203-0 which started flagging hundreds of innocent files as a "Win32:Delf-MZG" Trojan (or, in less common cases, as "Win32:Zbot-MKK"). Among the files affected were high-profile programs produced by Adobe, Realtek sound card drivers, various media players etc.

We are still investigating the issue, trying to find out what exactly happened and how to make absolutely sure it will not happen again.

At 5:50am GMT, another VPS update (091203-1) was released, fixing the issue (for both "Win32:Delf-MZG" and "Win32:Zbot-MKK").
Those who have not used their computers between 12:15am and 5:50am will most likely not be affected.

If you're still using the bad VPS (091203-0) we recommend to invoke a VPS update immediately.

Our technical support team is currently preparing extensive HOWTOs about how to fix the situation for those who were hit by the problem.

We will be updating you shortly.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

That aint no shit, it was flagging my movie players. And a friends anit spyware/anti virus, etc... We both hopped on the new panda wagon to give it a try. Not bad so far, and very light. LIke what ever it targetted it had to wipe it all out. D/L Panda and it all went back to normal. Not much functions to it though. Not sure if thats good or bad yet. Might hop back on avast when they get it straightened back out later.  [nerdly]

At first it got rid of my toolbar crawler. Then I got to thinking  :wtf: when it attacked the movie players next.

That why I like a program that has a 'ignore' button.

Artificial Intelligence is not perfected yet.  And until SkyNet goes live, there will still be that human interface to frack things up.
