Internet Streaming Problem

In the last week or so my internet has been running weird. I am using att dsl, elite package i think. whichever is there fastest. anyways i usually test my speeds here and they're consistently around 5.0Mbps down. however recently whenever i try to stream video my speeds drop drastically. normally my computer buffers and plays videos pretty much instantly. but when i try to stream videos it doesn't work, it goes to super slow speeds. although whenever i'm just browin the web it runs normally. it takes forever to load and when i exit the video and try to run a speed test, my speed test is also very poor. i'm not sure what the deal is. any ideas guys?

what i've tried:

1. power cycling modem.

2. pressin reset button on modem.

3. ran bitdefender antivirus to be sure i'm clean

4. used crap cleaner to clear all the crap out

Do you have a router or is the modem directly connected to your computer?

Hop number five... appears to still be within your hosts network looks very latent.

Show them that traceroute.

But does this only happen after you've tried to stream? Sounds like you think the two problems are connected. Your traceroute looks to me like they aren't.

That's really weird that it would only happen in that situation. Did they test your line before and after the problem. Word of warning, many companies these days will charge you about fifty bucks if the get there and find that it's not an issue with something they're responsible for.

What program are you using for streaming media? Are you streaming to a console?
