After several years of lambasting anything over 50 Mbps as marketing fluff, Verizon late last month took the wraps off of their 150 Mbps down, 35 Mbps up tier. The tier costs anywhere from $195 to $215 (plus various activation and installation fees) depending on if you bundle or sign a long-term contract, and it's the only way (aside from luck) a FiOS user can currently get a home gateway that supports 802.11N. Calling it the "fastest mass market service in the nation," Verizon this week also started offering the 150/35 tier to small businesses, pricing for which again varies depending on your bundle and contract options. Meanwhile, many users in our forums note that the 150 Mbps speed is not available in all FiOS markets yet.
