According to a press release from Ericsson, mobile broadband users should exceed the one billion mark sometime this year. 400 million of those subscribers will be in the Asia Pacific region, followed by North America and Western Europe with more than 200 million subscriptions each. Total broadband subscribers at the end of 2010 sat around roughly 500 million total, up considerably from the 200 million mark reached back in 2008. By 2015, Ericsson believes mobile broadband subscriptions will top 3.8 billion -- 95% if those connections being HSPA, CDMA and LTE.
