According to new data from In-Stat, there's now 763 million broadband connections worldwide, with 179 million of those connections in the United States alone. In-Stat notes that worldwide broadband subscribers grew 25 percent between 2007 through 2009, and while there has been a slowdown in growth rate, "there are still some substantial gains to be made" -- especially in Asia-Pac, Latin America, The Middle East, and Africa. Among other tidbits, the report found that 76% of the world s FTTH subscribers reside in the Asia/Pacific region, global DSL count recently exceeded 371 million, and that North America continues to be the largest market for cable broadband service.

Upon this gifted age, in its dark hour,
Rains from the sky a meteoric shower
Of facts... they lie unquestioned, uncombined.
Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun; but there exists no loom
To weave it into fabric.

On the other hand, there's plenty of redefining that can be done as well. How fast are those broadband connections? That website won't tell me unless I pay, which I can't and won't.
Click me. Or be diminished; one by one.
