While in Egypt, during an interview which aired on Al-Hayat TV last week (January 30, 2012), United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg stated that she believed Egypt should look primarily to the constitutions of other nations, rather than that of the United States, for inspiration in drafting its new constitution:
It is a very inspiring time [for Egyptians]—that you have overthrown a dictator, and that you are striving to achieve a genuine democracy. So I think people in the United States are hoping that this transition will work, and that there will genuinely be a government of, by, and for the people. …
