The rivers and glaciers that descend from the steep slopes of the Himalaya mountain range help to provide water for the 1.4 billion people that live in its shadow. Any interruption in this flow could have severe implications in a region blighted by political tension and poverty.

A paper published in the science journal Nature this week which revealed that there has been no appreciable loss of ice from the region's glaciers over the past decade has been met with relief and surprise. The findings have also been greeted with delight by climate sceptics who have long viewed claims made about the melting of Himalayan glaciers as unfounded and alarmist.

The study's authors used data obtained between 2003 and 2010 from the twin Grace satellites to detect and record any tiny, regional shifts in the Earth's gravitational field. A decline in ice mass resulted in a reduction of this pull as they orbited the planet.

The study was the first ever attempt made using satellite data to create a detailed, region-by-region picture of the planet's 20 largest glaciers and ice caps (GICs . Previously, GICs have largely been monitored on the ground with the data being extrapolated from just a handful of sites to provide a conclusion about the state of a wider region's ice mass. Of the world's 160,000 glaciers, only 120 had ever been directly measured before this new study – and only 37 had an archive of measurements stretching back more than 30 years. The physical terrain and travel restrictions in the Himalayas have made it notoriously hard for scientists to monitor ice levels in the area meaning most measurements have been obtained from lower altitude glaciers which are far more vulnerable to climate change.

Sooo , OK vudabar the mountains are not melting , AT ALL !! In fact , there are area's that are gaining ice and heavy snow.

So the latest scientific..... or should I say political mass media mass delusion script is , that were headed into an ice age , and they say , a really really big one yea ...... geezus hahaha

Suppose it won't be long before this whole go green thing will die off , and the hundreds of thousands that have been employed from these companies created to " save us from ourselves " , will be jobless. And obama will report he has created some odd million jobs and things are going well , and there is not santa clause, but there is a Jesus , because in his words , Jesus would give condoms and the day after pill to school children , and even mandate it.

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™

The earth is spinning , wobbling and orbiting. There is no science to it. It's been what, 100 years give or take that we've even been recording weather ? And somehow this equates to humans are killing the planet ? When one volcano can release more tons of carbon into the atmosphere in one minute , then humans have since the industrial revolution, the sensitivity of followers to anything mass produced is astounding.

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™

You got that right. But I keep forgetting Al Gore is a god in his own mind. :read:

weather forecasting , has been around for 1000's of years,
the only changes have been in technology , (ice core samples etc )

Without a doubt temperatures have been rising along side Co2 levels, which leads, and which follows is what is in dispute ,

volcano's and earth strikes have the biggest singular impact on climate ,
but people alive on earth today have a increasing effect ,
very much like a gas cylinder suddenly exploding or a leaking valve , both will have an effect measured over a different time scale ,
each person born today http://www.intmath.c...lation-live.php

will have a negative impact on the planet ,
each requiring a certain input of power , at the moment from fossil fuels, which given time will run out,

that time span is complicated, as at the moment power is not spread equally in the world, that is changing,
within 15 years China may require more oil and coal than America , hence the price rises we are seeing today,
Ok so how does this affect climate change ? ,
burning fossil fuels creates Co 2 , that seems to increases the planets temperature, indeed not proved completely, but ignore the possibility at you grand children’s peril,

as I mentioned earlier weather forecasting has been around since man took up his spear and attached the tribe next door ,( who wants to fight a war in a blizzard LOL )
the weather ? one of mans unfulfilled dreams to control , I guess the dinosaurs thought the same way,

Just my thoughts , and heck, my Crystal ball has gone all cloudy, but cross my palm with
silver and it might clear

What a ridiculous set of words that is

Give me a break already on the " humans being alive is killing the planet tripe " rofl

Sure , cavemen pointed at the clouds and said , "epubumist hundripidus columunibussis " aka , it's rainin get the kids inside "

As far as having a real clue as to weather change, in my lifetime alone , it's been global cooling ( in the 1970's ) then global warming , now ice age

You really have to take a step back and process some of this, go ask a child that knows better " did you *place anything here* , they might say , well no , uhm yea........ no , kinda, well it;s like this..... uhm , am I in trouble "

Sounds a lot like the political global reduce population agenda from where I sit.

Tear the family apart , make children feel terrible there alive and breathing because there breath is killing the trees and birds, tax the people for doing business , bash, beat, manipulate and derange every moral concept including faith in humanity.

And thats not the funniest, people will stand and physically get themselves sickly over arguing this shit , amazes me how so many people actually function on a day to day basis. It's easy to pro-create, but actually being a part of a living breathing society, advancing in whatever particular the individual finds themselves interested in is a completely other subject.

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™

insults apart , "Give me a break already on the " humans being alive is killing the planet tripe " rofl

as you say Cavemen ?so WTF did they build Stonehenge ,
it goes further back than "me and now today ", without studying future weather, we would not be here today ,
weather is not a game of chance for our future survival ,

sure I got gas in the tank ,a few $$$ in the bank , so to say F**k the future is a easy cope out ,
and a sign of limited brain capacity , dam, maybe banjo boy was right ,

just saying as we are trading insults :D
Best regards as always

Roco you seem to be getting thin skinned again. But honestly the post I was referring to doesn't sound like your words . And in my opinion , which is very doubtfully going to change , the whole spastic stop breeding and stop living thing is over the top for reasonable thinking.

You know I knew this guy some time ago that it was all or none, either it was his way or nothing. Either you believed what he believed, or to him , I was the worst thing to be around. There is a definition for that mental exercise .

So if I do not believe we in the last hundred years have almost killed the planet, and simply by driving , eating , and having a light on to see with what I choose , then I somehow have limited mental capacity ? That presumption is more then reminiscent of the guy I was referring to a minute ago yes ?

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™

Humanity's ongoing and increasing tests and tribulations will be a catalyst for us to further unite and to humbly consult on the best solution(s) forward.

In my humble opinion our Creator will guide us in this painful but necessary process and that gives me great hope for the long term future of humanity.

Have a great week folks and greetings from Texas!

Living in the South (sc) and near the NC border, we don't get much harsh cold weather. This winter we have had a Few cold days under the freezing mark. So.. I didn't use any heat this Whole winter, (this is the Truth), not kidding..at night stayed under the covers and watched Tv and surfed the Net, no problem. Well.. there was a Little problem. getting to the bath-room upstairs, but no Big deal. Wonder if Al Gore has a Bathroom up-stairs? Last year we had Ice n Snow. That was the time I sprayed Warm water on my car Windshield, (windscreen), for those in the UK. That was another Little problem. Windshields don't cost so much you know, and it only took about 45 minutes for them to install it. Winter time is Nice, but... give me Warm weather, a cool Summer breeze, a glass of iced Tea and a High Speed internet connection.

SWF skinned again ,lol I got a hide thicker than a elephant ,
sure I get angry at times , that soon cools , just ben reading a report from Africa that the 1000 year+snow on some mountains aint there anymore ,, so who is rightr wrong don't count for much anyway IMHO .
Global warming ? , I guess depends on which channel you are pluged into.
all I am is saying is keep an open mind , things aint black and white , there are many shades of grey inbetween ,
sure our decendents will be around in ther future ,I just hope they ain't got cause to revile us ,

just been reading a report from Japan. Electric cars and hybrids cause more pollution per mile than convetional cars , I figured that way back ,
Climate change ? as a kid I felt colder winters and hotter summers back then .
or was it a dream ? , but I don't remember it raining in school holidays ,LOL

What I believe our great grandchildren will be angry about , is that we sat around watching moronic billionaires take over the world for the sake of gameplay and personal vendettas.

Anything in between to rile up the people , make a percentage feel as if they are killing polar bears, and costing the rest of the people money because they eat salt, or are overweight , is just as putrid of a political game as it gets.

Separating the people in ever aspect of life for the should purpose of causing as much unrest and future violence is nothing more then what a roll of the dice in this game as it's played.

The machine that in in play , is so strong , that people that would otherwise be living there lives happy as a clam , are discussing things that the only knowledge they have about the given subject is what they hear over and over again until the string pullers see it has taken root, then onto the next square.

World temperature is the laughing stock that proves humans can be very easily manipulated and controlled, so long as they hear updates about it , see people getting emotional over it , read a book written with pictures of icebergs, and the soft fuzzy animal that is supposedly losing it's mommie due to the terrible breathing and farting going on by the terrible humans that trash up the planet with there presence.

Easily controlled is the keyword.

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™
