It says: "Several critical global, regional and local thresholds are close or have been exceeded.

"... abrupt and possibly irreversible changes to the life-support functions of the planet are likely to occur."

I'm not diggin it. This is no more then the same tripe that was pushed for the last decade.

Sure , we don't recycle a fraction of what we should , garbage collection is still being dumped in a pile for future gold mine of who knows what is archived in them , this plastic thing has to be dealt with , and thats just for starters.

But for the UN to come out with a report , that states and I'll quote there quote

"... abrupt and possibly irreversible changes to the life-support functions of the planet are likely to occur."

What type of scientific report is that ? " likely to occur " ? Anyone with a bit of simple math skills knows there is no likely , it is or it is not. As life and science revolve around what we understand as mathematics. There is nothing scientific about likely in any sense. They love the term greenhouse gasses don't they.

IF , there were one of those milky white " thinkers " that actually got out and grabbed some vitamins from the sun to cover there wrinkled beaks , they might stop trying to tax and scare people into sitting home in front of the boob tube listening to some dick crying over sappy music while they show the worst kept back yards on the planet and smoke stacks blowing already white smoke from the scrubbers, while the companies they affiliate with politically are paying someone to ship there trash to another continent. Hypocritical pukes.

It's like the guy wearing the funny hat following the elephant with a shovel and a can. So long as the animal keeps walking there'll be poop the size of bowling balls. DOH!

So how's everybody doing in that little head of yours ? ™

I'm sorry, but I do not believe anything that comes from UN. Their purpose is to make the UN the World government. The US funds the largest portion of their budget and all we get is being bashed by countries like Cuba, Iran, etc. We (USA) should withdraw from the UN and quit funding this useless bunch. We should also tell them to find another home base and close down the existing one in NYC.

I disagree. With a system as complicated as the entire earth itself, you have no way of modelling all relevant variables. Thus, at best you can make an approximation of the chance that things will go wrong given a model. I would say "likely to occur" is a simpler way to say this when the chance is high.
The other day, in the park, I was wondering why frisbees look bigger and bigger as they get closer to you
And then it hit me
Click me. Or be diminished; one by one.

Refreshing to know that, simple because it extrapolates my point to no end.
