I watch TV with my laptop on, but if I want to see a particularly weak channel (4.1) I have to turn off the Wifi in my laptop.

Any suggestions on how be able to do both at the same time?

Suggestions are appreciated!

First thing I would do if I had that problem would be to go into the router settings and change the channel.

In your browser go to your routers address, usually http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 if you don't know the address you can do a quick traceroute to any website, the first hop should be your routers address, unless you've got something complicated going on with your setup. Instructions to trace are...

To run a traceroute...
 • Windows Start > Run > type CMD [enter] > from the command prompt type tracert google.com and/or tracert testmy.net
 • Linux / Mac Under Applications/Utilities open 'Terminal' > type traceroute google.com and/or traceroute testmy.net

Paste those results here.

(ignore the "Paste those results here." part... that's a macro we have here.)

Once you've got into your router, locate your wireless settings. You should have an option to set the channel. Since you have interference you shouldn't pick an adjacent channel... pick one away from the channel you're currently on. If you're set on auto, pick your channel by trial and error.

Here's what the setting on my Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band N look like...

That should clear up the problem you're having. :icon_thumright: Let me know how that works for you. :icon_thumleft:
