hey everybody i found this site yesterday and i was happy and everything cause i found something that fix my internet connection. What i mean by that is that when every i was on the internet it was all slugish n yucky n slow. so i tried the cablenut program and i think i did everything right. i started the program save draft then went to  Topic: VanBuren TestMy.net Cablenut settings and went to
* VanBurens_cablenut_settings_2_versions.zip
i have windows xp home. service pack 2 w/ Cox as my isp
a netgear router n terayon cable mode. but i used the setting for the cablenut 2 and went and did everything right. i used winrar and selected the upper file went to win.xp then went to the 100mbs option because i read that some where on tihs forum you should use that setting w/ a router but my problem is this.
my upload and download speeds were pretty good and up to advertised speeds but now like today everything is all slow again and my ping is in the 600-1000's.
can some 1 help me?
oh ya p.s i dont think it has anything to do w/ spyware or viruses. i booted my pc in safe mood did a hijack this scan, windows spyware seach, ad-aware, and spybot, i also defraggmented my harddrive and went to a resotre point and nothing is working  :(

sac-o-beef: I'm just going to guess I think you were fine until you " went to a restore point" I think that put you where you were before you did all the other .Try to go to restore & undo the restore you  did last.

Welcome to the forum sac-o-beef :hello:
you want to choose the Cablenut file of your ISP's advertised speeds, not your LAN speed... I think changing that would fix all your problems...

edit: spelling

ok i took the advices , if that's a word, i undid my restore point then went to my advised speeds which were in the mss1460 and cable and dsl 5000 768.css and well i did a test and well i officially have speeds twice as fast as a 56k  modem
also when i undid my restore point and went to the proper files it said that data was missing so i went to add n remove programs delete cablenut and deleted my vanburen cablenut settings and then reinstalled them and did all this

hey sac-o-beef and welcome to the forum :)

all you need to do to get windows default settings is

open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry and reboot

try that and also bypass your router and connect direct to modem via ethernet, powercycle modem, leave it off for 30 full seconds

test speed again

also make a linequality test here http://www.dslreports.com/tools

disable firewall during test

k called my isp and said
yo can ya check out my modem signal;s
and what was said is this
ummmm tring to remember ... oh ya first the guys said that everything on my modem was fine asked me some questions about my speeds and my pings 'well i actually told him" but i reconnected to my router before this call he told me during the all to connet my modem directly to the pc but didnt saw through usb or ethernet port but i use ethernet port  uhhh he said he resetted like my ip addreess i think and said my pings we're fine but when i had multiple tabs open "w/ firefox" he said my pings were in triple digits

so on to testing
i did a download test and that was fine it was actually higher then  my isp avg. download speed but my upload speed was really really bad like 59 kb/s and it was suppose to be like 300-500 somewhere in that are
the guy basically said they cant do much about upload speeds and their primary concern are download speeds and he said sorry :(
after the call i did another line quality test and here are my results
http://www.dslreport...ity/nil/1760803

oh ya and 2 more things
the guy i talked w/ asked if i was using any firewall and i told him that i went to  services on win.xp and disabled it
the tab says windows firewall/internet connectin sharing and that's disabled cause i hate the firewall on xp but i also set the fire wall before i disabled it to accept any kind of traffic and to basicaly allow everything into and out of my comp.
and now , this is the second topic i was gonna talk about
now i cant access the internet through my router but i have to have it directly connected to the modem the the ethenet port in my pc

You need to know what you're doing, man...

Those speeds are +20 plus his normal isp, so what's the problem besides the ping?
