I have renovated a bit.. not only looks wise but I also made one major change.

When / if you score over what I think is acceptable for the test size you have chosen you will automatically be redirected to the next size up. This increases accuracy a whole lot

People must really dig the new site design... (by the way... this post is more for me than it is for public... kind of a diary of events)

Twice as many people have bookmarked the site since redesign 20% of people bookmarking
Twice as many page views trending this month at 2.2 million page views
30% increase in visitors this month
30% increase in visits per visitor (2.2visits/visitor very nice)
Visits duration :: Average: 7 minutes up from Average: 6.22 minutes (people are kickin' it here longer)
and about 500% increase over last month in referers from forums (people are talking 'bout TMN)

can't wait to see the traffic boom when i unveil my new addition to testmy!!

I get all this friggen traffic... YET, I only have 500 posts to my forum that has been up a year! That is friggen pathetic! But Forums are extreamly hard to start! But once that snow ball gets big enough and starts growing too fast... ima need to get more mods

Wow, CA3BLE, what are you running to get almost 4Mbps? I assume a cable modem based on your name - I was cranked to recently get up to almost 3Mbps with Comcast, which I thought was near the top of the range for cable.

Great site by the way. I've tried alot of testing sites, but yours is the one I always seem to come back to.

Thanks Scott, beleive it or not... cable modems are easily capible of speeds up to 50 Mbps

One day we will see fiber in our homes, that will get you in the Gbps... or about 250 times faster than I am running ~ 18,000 times faster than 56K --- and this is on the low end at only 1 Gbps, hehe ~ but we need to first make computers that can process fast enough... the future RULES!

50Mbps? Wow! What is it - is Comcast intentionally limiting me, then, to around 3Mbps? And Why? I salivate at the thought of the speeds you speak of. Finally, true on-demand high definition video over the net! By the way, this is probably off-topic, but do you or anyone else out there have any ideas or theories why even though many of us have speeds capable of receiving broadcast telelvision quality, there is STILL no option for on-demand television? I know the network affiliates would fear losing local advertising revenue, but why would the cable channels care? And why would the cable providers have anything to fear since they are already providing most of us with broadband anyway? (Maybe they think we'll watch less shows since we won't have to suffer through crap waiting for the ones we really want to watch...) Anyway, if anyone's interested, we could start a discussion on the GENERAL board or something.

they cap the speeds to free resources on the main lines... so they can add more users... and so later on they can tier the service and make you pay more

VOD is very hard to explain... but basically why you don't see more broadcast video on the internet is because it is expensive to the place that is serving the broadcast. Bandwidth is very expensive... and video takes a lot of it. There are plenty of places out there that offer video feeds of a lot of stuff... but you are going to pay a monthly feed for nice quality video. Full broadcast TV and HDTV takes up a whole lot more bandwidth than you think by the way... and that is something that you will not see 'streaming' to your PC any time soon. Just kick it on the couch and wait till about 2016, then we might have some more options out there.

What the people who would think about investing in a venture like that will think... is that most people, when it comes to TV... ... well... will want to sit in front of a TV, not a computer. Why would they invest in something with a dim future. When it comes down to it... it all about the dough $$$

I was fortunate to get in on the hay days of Excite@home when I first got cable and man at the time I did not realize just how fortunate I was. I always measrured over 5Mb down and at the time (like 5 years ago) the onoy tests I could find for upload couldn't measure it as it went off of the scale at ove 2MB up.

I went through a nightmare several years of att and comcast abefore Bresnan took over and you can see the results

Thanks for the thoughtful answer, CA3LE. I guess the bandwidth would cost more than they would make off the advertising, huh? All I know is that I would watch alot more tv if I could choose the time to watch the shows - I'm constantly coming home and saying "SH*T, I forgot that <blank> was on tonight". VCRs suck and apparently you need a phone line for the PVRs (how archaic - why have a PHONE line when you have cable and wireless?!). Anyway, I've been predicting for years that we would be able to watch shows when we want to, and it pisses me off that it hasn't happened yet. As for sitting in front of the computer, that's no problem when you have a laptop! By the way, what good video services that you mentioned do you know of? Are you tallking like RealOne?

Cox in Phoenix had 'DVR' which is a PVR box that needs no phone line... it's friggen PiMP!

As for a good video service... I havn't found any at the quality that I consider watchable... if anyone finds any service like that... at the very very least 300 Kbps ~~ at the least 600 Kbps quaility ... and also has a bunch of cool crap.. let me know.
