Vista expiration

30 June 2008 - 06:04 PM

Hey guys
I need help with something.Well the thing is I have a laptop that I got back in December, a Toshiba that came pre-installed with Vista Home Premium.
It has been activated since day 1 that I set it up but the problem is that the past few days I have got a message that pops up stating that I should back up all my
files and install Vista on it because the license will expire. Is that possible? It never came with a Vista cd and now I don't know what to do. I have another 3 hours left it says.
I will backup now..but I don't know what will happen after.

MPAA Says Net Neutrality Would Hamper Its Anti-Piracy Efforts

MPAA Says Net Neutrality Would Hamper Its Anti-Piracy Efforts
from the must-be-a-bad-idea-then dept

If you were on the fence about net neutrality, this might just push you over: the MPAA has sent a letter to the FCC saying that net neutrality regulations shouldn't be implemented because they might interfere with filtering technologies and foster the sharing of copyrighted content. Like so many things the MPAA says, this doesn't make a lot of sense. Even if net neutrality regulations covered the use of packet inspection and filtering to weed out illegal content (and it's not clear that they would), the regulations would only apply to ISPs. Despite the proactive stance AT&T is taking in sucking to Hollywood by deciding on its own to try and filter content, few ISPs would want to join them. There's no reason for them to try and filter out copyrighted content: they have no legal responsibility to do so, thanks to safe harbor laws, while spending money to do something that's only going to annoy their customers is generally regarded as a bad idea. It's not hard to see what's happening here, though. The MPAA wants to ensure that net neutrality laws, or anything else, would preclude ISP filtering -- then it's going to push for new laws forcing ISPs to police their networks for unauthorized content.

Need help making 2 different networks communicate with each other

17 July 2007 - 11:36 AM

First let me start off with what Im trying to do.

1.Using a Cisco 2600 router and trying to make 2 different networks ping each other
2. Fe0/0 is set to a 10.x.x.x network address
3. Fe0/1 is set to a 192.x.x.x network address
4. Desktop is connected to fe0/0 and I have statically assigned it the next possible host address in the 10.x.x.x network
5. Laptop is assigned the next address in the 192.x.x.x network, and is connected to fe0/1
6. Router can ping the desktop and vice versa
7. Router can ping the laptop and vice versa

How do I make it that its possible that the desktop can ping the laptop and vice versa?

Thanks in advance!!
