  1. no router its direct connect. yea it only happens after i try to stream so i thought they problem was linked to that. i called the tech support and they did a line test which showed some problems. they didn't say what, only that a tech would have to come and fix it.
  2. i've attached a tracert. also, here is our the results of my most recent speed test before trying to stream. :::.. 3. In the last week or so my internet has been running weird. I am using att dsl, elite package i think. whichever is there fastest. anyways i usually test my speeds here and they're consistently around 5.0Mbps down. however recently whenever i try to stream video my speeds drop drastically. normally my computer buffers and plays videos pretty much instantly. but when i try to stream videos it doesn't work, it goes to super slow speeds. although whenever i'm just browin the web it runs normally. it takes forever to load and when i exit the video and try to run a speed test, my speed test is also very poor. i'm not sure what the deal is. any ideas guys? what i've tried: 1. power cycling modem. 2. pressin reset button on modem. 3. ran bitdefender antivirus to be sure i'm clean 4. used crap cleaner to clear all the crap out
  4. well the connection has been working well for the past 2 days straight, new world record. i haven't changed anything so we will see but as of right now its fine. thanks.
  5. no wireless phones, no neighbores. i can't think of anything that is transmitting close to this modem. moreover i think that problem would have been immediate from the time of installation, unlike the actual situation in which the connection was perfect for a month and only now is acting up even though nothing has changed. att said my connection/signal strength is very strong so i don't think the phone line would be an issue. its just bizarre. they said they could send a tech out but i'm not sure about that.
  6. yes, when i talked to the service rep he said the modem had to be two feet away from all electronics. i have since moved the modem and take the filter off this dsl line as there is no phone like on this line. but still the problem persists. that is interesting information though.

  8. no router, just the modem. the att service rep. said there have been no outages in my area that would cause my connection problems.
  9. yes i have power cycled and reset the modem many times. what is the node? could you be more specific about that? thanks.
  10. hey guys, i have the att elite dsl package. i've had it for about 2 months. first month everything was perfect. the past two weeks though i've been losing my connection constantly. every few minutes sometimes. its a real annoyance. i've called att and they say my signal strength is great and they went through a bunch of their so called diagnostic tests with me. everything seems to check out yet i still lose connection. on the modem the power, ethernet, and dsl lights are always good, but the internet light is the one that usual goes off. any helps would be greatly appreciated. modem is a motorola, the standard given by att.
  11. just hooked up my dsl about 5 minutes ago. i'm on the elite pack, 3.0-6.0. ran the test a couple of times and am averaging about 4.6 on the download and .65 on the up. pretty satisfied for the price. and from what i've heard it can take a few weeks to get your full speed. plus the phone jack is 15 feet from my computer, don't know if that matters of not. but thus far, it's real nice.
  12. running good again. stopped testing for a while and got my best yet. Your connection is: 7571 Kbps or 7.6 Mbps You downloaded at: 924 kB/s You are running: 132 times faster than 56K and can download 1 megabyte in 1.11 second(s) Member Ident:Username:zerocool5468 CompID:6435639495696 Test Time:: 2007/02/03 - 7:40pm Test Browser and OS info: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.9) Gecko/20061206 Firefox/1.5.0.9 Test ID: TJZWKSN86 (if this is a screenshot go to testmy.net to see if this is fake) Diagnosis ^info^: Awesome! 20% + : 45.26 % faster than the average for host (cox.net) This was tested from a 12160 kB file and took 13.157 seconds to complete
  13. i'm using mozilla. there's only an options option under the tools section. but i ran crap cleaner and cleared out all the saved stuff and installed the correct cable nut settings and restarted. now my scores are all over the place. ranging from 2.8-5.6. but no where near the 7+ i was just getting. this is pretty weird.
  14. no, i haven't done any tweaking. swear to go i was scoring 2.7-2.8 earlier today. call to switch with at&t and run the test again. 7.2-7.4 scores. i'm thinking i might just cancel that at&t order since there's no contract. if these speeds stay the same that is. but i'm pretty siked. the cox i'm paying for is 4.0 speeds. so, this is pretty sweet.
