If each person who stole it had bought it, they would make more profit, therefore, IMO, it does take away from their profits.

No they wouldn't. Items cost less, that is.
It's all about greed.
Both on the seller's and the buyer's / pirate's side.
If there was no piracy company CEOs would be flying around in a different lear jet for each day of the week instead of owning just one and you would not see any lowering of prices.

If there is any kind of competition, being able to offer a lower price and make the same profit would be beneficial to a company. Less theft=less cost=more profit=being able to offer the item at a lower price, while keeping the same profits. If you offer the same item at a lower price than the next guy, you will sell more, and therefore make even more profit.

Wear a seatbelt. For those who argue "what if I am trapped and can't get out?" If you are in an accident that requires you to get out of the car that fast, you most likely would be unconcious/dead without the seatbelt on. Unconcious/dead people don't undo seatbelts.
Know where all the cars are around you, and constantly re-check their position. This includes behind you and on your sides.
Predict what others will do...This takes some time, but you can normally spot those people who will cut you off. Many people will swerve in the direction they are going to turn before they do.(for some reason they turn the wheel when they look in the mirror)
Tell people what you are going to do. USE SIGNALS!!! Probably the easiest way to avoid accidents is to let others know what you plan to do.
Don't tailgate. There is no good reason to do it. Plus, if you hit someone from behind, it is your fault 9 out of 10 times.
If you are not giving the vehicle gas, your foot should be hovering over the brake pedal. You would be amazed how much distance will travel in the time it takes to move your foot from gas to brake pedal. You should always be ready to brake.
DO NOT CUT OFF TRACTOR TRAILERS!!!(or anyone else for that matter) I see young people do that here all the time. The rigs can't stop very fast, and will squash you like a bug.
STAY OFF THE FREAKIN PHONE!!!! I can spot a person on a cell phone from a mile away. They are the ones usually swerving all over the place, usually driving way too slow, and clueless as to what is going on around them. On an expressway, people going way too slow are sometimes just as dangerous as those going too fast.
Don't drive with 2 feet(this means one on the gas, one on the brake)...I've seen this more and more lately. I guess because there are less manual transmissions now. Not only does it keep your brake lights illuminated while you are driving(really annoying for the guy behind you), but when you have to suddenly stop, there is a good chance you will slam on both brake and gas..Bad part is, gas wins and you lose.
I was lucky enough to have parents that were good drivers. Those are the main points they drove into me as a teenager(except the cell phone thing).
I've driven over 1.5 million miles between work and personal. My dad has probably driven almost 5 million. No accidents between us (well dad has hit a deer, but that is pretty much unavoidable where he lives).
Oh, and NEVER DRINK AND DRIVE! Not only can you kill yourself, but you can kill an innocent person as well. Regardless of what anyone says, you cannot "drive better while drunk". You can THINK you are able to, but thinking it and actually being able to do it are two different things. Plus, a DWI will cost you around $10,000 depending on the state. In NY it stays on your record for 10 years, and you pay a 100% increase on your insurance for that period, plus the initial fine. You could pay for a taxi to take you home every night for that money.

If less people stole, the items would cost less for the rest of us..
Stores/companies charge more to cover theft. So basically the people who buy items instead of stealing are paying for their own item and for a percentage of one that is stolen.

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner Try Kaspersky...
My friend infected his machine badly, and Kaspersky did wonders helping me pinpoint the problem and helping me remove it.
For files Kaspersky couldn't remove, I used KillBox --> http://killbox.net/ , and deleted them on reboot.
Are you sure it's not the NIC drivers causing you to reboot? By default, XP will reboot automatically on a BSOD. I've had bad NIC drivers cause restarts. Make sure you have the correct drivers. Try uninstalling the NIC drivers, then turn off your pc. Then, plug in the ethernet cable while the pc is off. Start it up, and see if it stays running until the hardware wizard installs the NIC drivers. Perhaps you have a faulty NIC card?
