Locking at around 14Mbps

03 February 2012 - 08:43 AM

Maybe my own forum can help me... for the millionth time. I rarely post questions but it's still taught me allot of what I know.

The past few days my modem or router seems to be locking at around 14Mbps. I feel like it's using one channel or something.

Here's the query http://testmy.net/st...=3&l=25&q=CA3LE ... see all of the 14Mbps scores... almost exactly the same, every time. Taken on different computers too.

(bet most of you didn't know you could combine two of the same type into one share image, huh?)

Now I should probably take my own advice and connect the modem directly to first eliminate the router as a variable. But I've got too many things going on right now to take my network down. Plus, it really seems to me to be the modem... I've done this stuff for a long time, at this point I can feel where the problem is... that's my only way to describe that, lol. Why is it doing that? I thought maybe someone else knew what I was talking about and could save me from having to troubleshoot it.

I can get my connection speed, or close to it on usenet. But it takes forever to ramp up. On usenet, to get to ~6000 kB/s or 46Mbps I had to download 275MB+ of information.

Usually, I go from zero to full speed pretty much instantly.

What do you think?

HAHAHA

... and as always, speedtest.net has NO IDEA that there is even a problem. Even though there is OBVIOUSLY a problem. Seriously guys, help me get the word out... the evidence is so stacked against their tests, why does everyone use them!!?? AHHH!

Solar Keyboard from Logitech

I was pulling a link off Logitech's website and noticed a solar keyboard.

Which is fine and dandy... but now they need to make one for programmers that run on caffeine and insomnia since our keyboards don't really see the light of day.

... seriously though, I kinda think it's dumb. How often do you change your batteries on your keyboard anyway? My fingers are constantly tapping away and I've only used about 3-4 sets of batteries in the last 12 months... seems like more of a gimmick than a truly useful feature. What do you guys think?

$50 Gold Buffalo Tribute Proof - Total SCAM!

26 December 2011 - 02:06 PM

I'm sure you've all seen the National Collectors Mint $50 Gold Buffalo coin comercial. I was curious how much it was actually worth so I did a little math... the results surprised me.

1 ounce = 28 349.5231 milligrams
Current gold price $1606 per oz
That's about $0.06 per milligram so that coin has $0.79 worth of gold.
... correct me if I'm wrong...

WHAT! I thought it would be at least a dollar! :laughing7: Those guys are commin' up hard! :whaa: --- that's just evil. "The original price was to be set at $50... but today it's only $9.95" -- come on, fifty bucks... the price was NEVER to be set at $50... who are they trying to kid? They have $0.79 worth of gold on the thing and they probably got the gold when the price was cheaper so it cost them even less. ... The problem that I have with this is that their comercial makes it seem to people like it's an investment opportunity, lol. Maybe an investment opportunity for the coin maker... Do yourself a favor, if you want to invest $10 in gold, go buy $10 in gold... not a 14mg gold plated POS. The change in your pocket is worth more.
