Hey whats up guys, haven't been around here in a long time . Glad to see this place is still kicking.

I recently moved into my new house and i upgraded to the RR turbo package 15/2. I was getting 13-14/2 pretty constant for the first couple of days. But now at certain times either early when i get home from work in the morning or late in the afternoon, my speed will drop to under 1mbit down.. but my upload stays at least 1.5mbits or higher. After about 10 min. of me restarting and checking the cables, the speed goes back up to normal.

For these tests, im running straight from the modem to the PC. I was plugged into my router, but even after i hooked it up straight to the modem.. the problem persisted for about 5 min. before getting the speed back to normal.

I was using a Comcast 15/2 tweak, but it didnt really do much to the speed. Im using my default values right now. Im of course virus/spyware free and all that good stuff.

Anyone else experience this problem or have a cablenut tweak for the RR turbo package i could tryout. I'm gonna call brighthouse and see if perhaps work was being done in the area. Its just odd to have the speed spike that randomly and it be only the down speed.

I did it when i was experiencing more download speed problems. This time i stayed between 5-7mbits down and up to 1.8mbits up

Well, i let my brother go on the comp when i was sleeping and when i woke up all mayhem was going on.

There was no internet connection, which i fixed by replugging in my coaxil to the wall several times, but the main problem is this.

A required .DLL file, C:WINDOWSSYSTEMOLEAUT32.DLL, was not found.

I get this whenever i try opening pretty much any program. My brother also said he tried to open the dll file with internet explorer. Not sure about XP but in win98 when you open a file that says "open with" it stays with that designated program. I tried looking for the DLL file under File types to see if i can change it but its not there.

I really dont feel like reformatting which seems like my only option at the moment.

I tried doing a search on it, but all that came up was having to put in a 98 cd and copying the file and my 98 cd is dmged so i cant do that. I dont think i ever saw this dll file, so i was wondering if its really part of the system or its from some sort of spyware that is making it need it.

Anyone have any ideas that can help, would be much apprieciated

I kinda jumped the gun thinking this would be such a serious problem. But i always like coming here when i need computer help cause i know ill get quality answers.

The way i fixed it was searching for the OLEAUT32.DLL. Deleting all 4 instances of it. Deleting the OL B folder from Common FilesSystem. I also deleted several other folders but i dont think they were related. Then i went to dll-files.com and downloaded oleaut32.dll from them and placed it in my C:windowssystem folder.

*Note: i was not able to run Winzip so when downloaded a zipped dll file from that site, i was able to use Winrar.

Hopefully if anyone else ever has this problem this will help them solve it.

Ok i dont know how long i have until i randomly restart again. First my mouse went out so i restarted. Then when i rebooted the monitor wouldnt turn on. Then after i got it working again, after the windows loading screen, nothing would come up. I figured it would be a driver problem, so i used a spare monitor and rebooted into safe mode and did a driver update from the folder i have. Then i plugged the other monitor in and it all seemed to work fine...

I was playing counter strike and then boom restarted. Then on the reboot following even before windows loaded, another.

Several else followed. I dont know what could be attributing to it. I would first think of overheating and it has an auto shut down feature.

The back rear plate does feel quite warm and i do run this beast 24/7. Also, on startup i get an error, that my system fan isnt on and i have to hit f1 to continue. After windows loads it seems to go on and off. This has happneed before but the issue resolved itself last time.

If it restarts again im going to turn it off and leave it to cool down overnight. I really have bad luck with comps i hope nothign is damaged... although this can finally be my excuse to get a new comp..

Any ideas on what could be causing it. I dont think its video related as its restarted even before windows loads. I also heard a pop but i had my headset on so i dont know if it was from inside my case.. (hopefully not).

The two pieces im thinking about is the motherboard and the ram. The mobo is kinda expensive and it puts me over my 1200$ budget. The ram is pretty solid but im thinking about G.Skill.

and as for a replacment mobo im thinking about Gigabyte Pro Sli board.

My other question is related to overclocking. Im pretty sure i know enough but i want to make sure.

To overclock i would need to turn the fsb up in the bios and then set the clock multiplier to make it 2.4. So would i turn the fsb to 240 and then set the multiplier to 10?

also if the fsb is 240 or more will it effect my ram being as its pc3200 and should i just buy higher clocked ram?

Any suggestions on other parts are welcomed. I really want to learn everything before i start building to avoid any problems.

it seemed to help boost memory performance and my resources werent as taken up as usually.

But i notice im testing a little low, about 6.6 i normally get 7.5 - 8 down. So i put a cablenut setting in and restart the comp. it gives me 5 megs.. so i switch back to the other setting and im back at 7.4

But now comes the problem... in the middle of posting a thread about the above situation, my mouse randomly failed and the cursor on the desktop just sat there, BUT i was able to control the mouse but couldnt see the cursor .. quite wierd... so i restarted the comp.

When i restarted for some reason it ran in 16 bit color, 640x480.. so i went to change it to my normal 32bit 1024x768 and restarted. Then after the windows screen it just stops. and doesnt load windows. So i restart into safe mode, scan and find nothing. I restart again and now it says with an error msg there seems to be something wrong with my display adaptor. I have never had a problem with it, and ive had it for almost 4 years. its a 4x agp fx 5200. So after like 30 restarts i manage to get back into windows and i load up the default drivers that came with the card.

Then after about 20 more restarts the computer finally lets windows loads and of course it freezes again .. but 1 more restart and it accepts the drivers and thats where im at now. Im scared to restart again or change res's

I have a reformat disk, but not an OS disk.. and i really dont feel like formatting because id have to save a bunch of data.

Is there anything i can download that would put me back before the update.. short of using a full OS install disk
