Hey Gang...
We all have it and we all hate it... I was on CNET yesterday and found some software called Counterspy. I would imagine there are probably a few of you who already use this. I have Spybot and run it at least three to four times a week.
I downloaded Counterspy yesterday and was totally shocked at what was on my system... that Spybot had missed. For those of you who already use this... post your comments. For those who don't try it. You may be surprised.

Speed Test... why so much varience??
18 May 2005 - 01:24 PM
I am confused... it's getting easier to do that these days.
I had posted a few days ago about my FIOS slowing down... I really don't notice anything speed or performance wise... it is just the speed test tell me it is slower. So here are my results today:
testmy.net
14012 / 1887 (up until a week or so ago I was ~15750 consistent on this site - now ~14012 is pretty good)
PC Pitstop
15296 / 2262
Verizon Infospeed
15345 / down
DFW Speakeasy
11618/1802
Now... all in all these speeds are excellent. Hey I switched from three years of hell with Comcast so I am very grateful. I understand communications as I have been in the DataComm field for over 20 years. But man... what a variance.
Any thoughts and/or comments (of course, other than ribbing me about complaining about my FIOS speeds)

Carrollton / Dallas - Any slow down

Hey Gang...
Anyone noticed a slow down in the DFW / Carrollton area?? I have dropped from around 15.8 download to around 13.7... my upload is about normal at 1.9. It really doesn't matter what time of day I have checked... it's all pretty consistent.
Ideals / suggestions???

Fios Installs - How did they go??
17 March 2005 - 03:57 PM
For those of us who have been lucky enough to have FIOS installed... please share your experience.
Mine, was great. I had already run Cat 6 cable from my PC area to where the ONT was going to be placed. The installers were great and really excited that I had probably cut two hours out of their install. I ended up staying outside and talking to them the whole install and they pretty well let me do everything inside... even configure the router and setup. They just stood over my shoulder and told me what to do.
They had another crew come by towards the end and we had five techs in my room while I was doing speed test. The funny part of the deal was one of the techs was explaining how I needed to enable security on my wireless... I told him as soon as they left he wouldn't even be able to see my connection... so we had a challenge going. He said if he could see it he would come back to the house... he drove by and was out there about five minutes... honked and drove off. Great guys!!!
