Senate settles on economic bill - Cuts include $2million Earmarked for Broadband
08 February 2009 - 08:28 PM
Several revisions later the Senate Republicans and Democrats have finally reached an agreement for the stimulus package being pushed by President Obama. A portion of the 'cutlist' made it's way into the hands of CNN, and they are reporting that among the billions that were cut was two million dollars for broadband. While specifics are unknown, we're left to assume it had to do with spreading broadband to rural areas. See the list in its entirety with the article: CNN.com

Although the XP install is about 7 months old... oh the windows networking stack sucks. I'd like to see windows tests form someone with the Killer network card (~$200 NIC that runs linux and offloads all networking from windows stack)...
I don't really want to spend the $200 to play with it, but if I saw this big of speed difference all the time.....
Meanwhile, speedtest.net has some work to do to get big enough files for anyone with a decent connection...

Windows:

The linux one is nice to believe, and my download is unregulated, but I doubt I'm pulling that anymore, my service has gone way down hill since the days of my signature...
