1  Main Forum / Got any ideas to make testmy.net better? / Upload speeds higher than expected on: April 28, 2008, 10:43:49 AM
Hello everyone,

I've been getting unusually high upload speed reports since yesterday. As I said in another post, my DSL connection runs at 1024/128 Kbps, and since yesterday my upload results report that I'm running at 282 Kbps. That'd be nice, but my upload speed is not that high.  sad

Is anyone else getting unusually upload speed reports or is it just me?

Cheers,
Joaquin

Hello,

When trying to do an upload test using the SmarTest feature, I get the following error message:

Beginning quote:

Error 671

Sorry, your score of 157098 Kbps is over testmy.net's max of 100000 Kbps.  It is very doubtful your connection is faster than 100000 Kbps... Please

• Are you running a firewall?  -- Some firewalls may need to be taken down for testmy.net to work.  After the firewall is taken down your browser may need
to be restarted also.
• Do you have an internet accelerator or proxy running? -- Some internet accelerators may cause false results when testing at testmy.net.  It's recommended
and necessary for you to take down all programs that cache pages.  Note that your connection is the same speed although these programs make your connection
appear faster because they precached pages for you.  Pages that have been precached (in other words fetched for you in advance)  are counter productive
when you're trying to benchmark what your real line speed is.
• Are you accessing the page incorrectly? -- Clicking the back button repeatedly in your browser often is the cause of this error, please refrain from using
your browsers back button if you get this error often.

If you still have problems please try testing with
flat-file testing

I'm not using a connection able to give me such high scores (I wish!) Smile. I'm on a 1024/128Kbps, which usuallly gives me scores of 880 Kbps down and 108 Kbps up. So there must be some kind of bug in the upload tests.

I used to do both download and upload test before, and they worked just fine. The error seems to show since the time you guys added the 50 and 100 mb tests.

Thanks and I hope I'm being of some help by reporting this bug.
