Yep.. someone actually tested all of the current mirrors!

Check it out.. I ran ALL of the mirrors. I did this in between other tasks so all of the tests are over about a 1 1/2 hour time frame.

All tests ran between 11:30pm and 1:00am GMT-0700 on May 2nd/3rd 2006 on my Cox Communications 9Mbps down / 1Mbps up home consumer class connection.

The mirrors that I considered acceptable for testing on a connection as fast as mine are as follows

A little expaination

Other people may get different results because of route and internet traffic. But I DO believe that the servers that didn't score over 7Mbps are incapable of attaining the bandwidth nessisary to test connections over 5Mbps. All of the mirrors outside of the US should be considered acceptable, if I was outside the US I'm sure I would have been able to get close to the maximum speed of my line. But given the distance I can't get accurate results from those servers.. that's just a given. Especially the VanBuren and just- mirrors are known to be great non-us mirrors, so don't count the non-us mirrors out just because I was unable to max out my own connection... your personal results will vary, especially true if your outside the US. Wink
