Do you only get pop-ups when you browse the internet?
I had quite a problem with them a while ago, but spybot took care of them. It might help you too, cause IE7 shouldn't have popups I believe.

Sorry |Buntz and thanks Just , I guess the Englsh/Ameruican fell apart there ,
yes I was asking is it easy to use for a novice /newbie , as my group that I suport are a bit basic , I have only just got them off of Norton and on to Grisofts AVG , so the firewall must be easy to use ,

but for my frebie group the world wide web is their oyster . as we say in the UK,

I think it is easy to use. Like a lot of other firewall your have to give permission for firefox or IE or any other program to enter the internet, but if you check the [remember my answer for this application box ] you only have to do it once. The only problem I every had with this firewall is with gaming. Some game will not let you out of the game to give it permission to enter the internet. I usually just shut it off before I start playing those game.

Hmm, i'm surprised with all of that, your problem hasent stopped. Can you post a screenshot of a popup (if its not too explicit) so we can see if it is likely to be a spyware?

I have used Pop-up Stopper Free Edition for years and it has worked
great for me. Get it at
www.panicware.com
.
I use CounterSpy v2 for spy-adware along with Spybot. They keep the
junk off my PC.

err, you probably have a print screen button on your keyboard, press it and copy it to a paint document. If you don't idk, I guess there are some programs out there that could help you.

Something else that may help is a custom hosts file. Since I have been using IE7 and the custom hosta file I get very few if any "pop ups" or "pop unders".

I personally like Microsoft's 'Windows Defender' teamed with IE7. It blocks about 99.8% of the popups on all my computers... every now and then one gets through but that will happen with any of those programs. Windows Defender isn't a dedicated popup blocker but it does do that also, along with it's main goal of keeping your computer free of spyware, adware and other threats (if you don't already know it's the final version of the old Microsoft Antispyware... it's just a better and quieter version, meaning it doesn't bug you as much with questions).
You can get Windows Defender at Microsoft's website a direct link is at >>
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
(there is a download link on that page... you may want to read more about it on that page also). Note (pirates beware...arrrgh!): You must have a geniune copy of Windows.
And as I said, it works best when you team it up with IE7 (Internet Explorer 7). You can of course also get this at Microsoft's website and read more about it at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx
-- again, as with most downloads from Micosoft these days you must have a genuine copy of windows or at least a pirated copy that authenticates (I have seen one before, hehe).
Just download both of those and use a good antivirus program and you'll be good to go, your computer will run like mine and have nearly NO popups and problems (although I'm using Vista now but before Vista I had it setup with XP and for years I never had any problems... and since Vista it's been more of the same, only difference is that I haven't found a good antivirus program but I'll have one very soon.

CA3LE, I use nod32 on Vista and it works fine, but it might not be your favorite.
JH2688, are your popups with images or just text? If they are just text, it might be the messaging service from windows, which is an easy fix.
