Apple's PC Marketshare up to 14 Percent for February 2008

According to preliminary data from NPD, Apple reportedly achieved 14 percent of the U.S. retail PC market share in February 2008, up from 9% just a year ago. This represents 60 percent unit growth and 67 percent revenue growth year-over-year.
Mac Notebook sales were up 64% year-over-year and Mac Desktops up 55% year-over-year, with strong sales of the MacBook Air this February.
Unfortunately, historic NPD data is not publicly available. Previous reports of Apple marketshare have been gathered with very different methods so are not directly comparable. The trend, however, is consistent with reports of Apple's growing popularity.
In 2001, Apple launched their retail store initiative with the slogan "5% down, 95% to go", referring to market share.

Well I certainly don't wonder why, from my experience, a mac beats a windows machine hands down.
And now that you can easily , or should I say easier than early intel macs, run windows for screwin around, why not get one.

In my experience windows can't even come close. You can do so much more with a mac then a PC. And even on the price for the most part. You can't touch anything from dell for under $4300 that is close to the Mac Pro, and the Mac Pro only costs $2800 bucks, and just a little bit more if you want the 8800gt
There really is no reason for anyone not to get a mac anymore, and thats why there market share is growing so well.

I myself has always be a windows user as im a big fan of Microsoft's server line. Nothing can beat Server 2003 and now Server 2008 is coming out, its getting even better. But i will say i do have a ibook G4 with OS X 10.4 on it and i use that for internet surfing/messing. One thing i find better in OS X is its very user friendly unlike Windows. Right now im running Server 2003 and its very fast and very stable.
I will be buying a Macbook Pro here in a few months to replace my ibook as that G4 CPU is getting a little slow for me.
Here in a year or two, i might go all Mac as my needs for a windows based OS is not as great anymore. And now that Macs have VM Fusion theres no reason for me not to go all Mac now.

I like both although I favor a Windows pc, I am excited to see what Microsoft will do to hold back apple. Competition is always good.

I actually don't think there is anything Microsoft can do to hold back apple at this point. I excited to see what apple will do to increase there market share.

As long as the price drops, I'm interested to see how it goes. But it would take quite a bit to sway me away.

I think a big reason for this is because a lot of people feel let down by Vista and some people are switching to Mac and a lot of the more hardcore windows users are starting to us Linux distros like Ubuntu.

You might be onto something there.
I have had macs for a few years and I wish I had switched , or should I say started on macs, I love them, no really, something about working on a mac just makes me feel comfortable, and confident. Especially when i don't have to keep defragin, and checkin my services to see what and who may be in y system doing who knows what.

That has really helped. But I don't think that is the main reason. All this big growth in apple. started happening as soon as they switched to intel, in january 06. Then took off even more when they showed off the iPhone. And then exploded when the iphone came out in january.
Windows users were like, "F#@&, if its this good on the phone, i can't imagine what there computers are like" I personally know of 2 people that switched because of the iPhone.
Another would be the ability to run windows on a mac. So for the first time people could run every windows app they wanted, and get all there email, and use the internet in a place where they don't have to worry, am I going to get a virus or some spyware.
I think alot more people are going to switch over, once they see what developers can really do with leopard in june at wwdc.
