If email and browsing are affected, and you know your speeds are good, it sounds like software trouble.  You may want to clean your computer as a first step.  Try a spyware scan, virus scan, and ccleaner.

This is the first thing i did to no prevail.

Your MTU could be wrong, if you had cable previously, and made no changes..

Go here, and run the optimizer.  http://www2.verizon.net/help/fios_settings/optimizer/  ...Reboot, and then retry the applications that were giving you problems...Also run another speed test.

I tried this it was already optimized.

My fios is having trouble running programs, like my e-mail my home page and any program that runs automatic updates. The weird thing is my speeds are fine though please help.

I've had similar problems and I would say update the drivers/firmware of the mouse. It fixed my issues.

how do you update the driver.

the ball will be fine, but clean the rollers, there will be 2 and a guide wheel.

already did that. i doesn't malfunction every second more like every 3-4 hours or so.

have you tried updating your drivers? try that also could be a short in the cord itself..

Wow, weird. Do you have the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse?

my mouse keeps malfunctioning it sticks and wont move i have to take it out of the USB plug and put it back in too get it to work again. before it sticks i usually hear two clicking sounds from my speakers, and it usually happens when I'm watching a DVD on  my PC.

Did you install any new programs lately? Or gone on some not-so-recommendable websites? You might have gotten new items that load at startup. You can check what runs at startup by typing "msconfig" in run and going to the startup tab. If you find an entry that you don't recognise, that might be the problem, post the name of the entry here so we can check if it should be there. If that doesn't help, you can use bootvis to see exactly what part of the startup routine is taking so long.

ok Sundevil, check this out.

Verizon FiOS and and Verizon Online DSL have the save host name for the most part(verizon.net) as more and more people get FiOS and do speed tests, the average gets higher. Since FioS runs a lot faster than DSL,  the average is getting higher. As you say, just your percentage has gotten lower. That is not your fault, your line looks good, could be better but decent a 3/768 connection.  Its the people running FiOS making your score look bad because the average speed is higher.

How about the speed of you machine it self? is it running just as fast?

My mother had a similar problem and she had so much spyware on it it would hardly run not to mention her memory was loose. Those are my ideas good luck

my verizon 3.0 dsl has been progressively getting slower and slower and I cant stop it. I was running at 87% of my isn now im only running at 48% this happened all in a month and a half . I would really appreciate any advice you have. THANK

With XP, thats a good amount of ram.  You're hard drive space is fine.  Why do you think you need more storage space?

I only have that much space because i had to unistall programs i didn't necessarily wanted to unistall thats why.

you may have already posted this but how much did you even have before and how much did you put in...im just curious since my comp. amount of ram is 128mb but it shows up as 126mb

I had that same problem before i put my memory upgrade in because i use to have 256mb but would only show up as 254mb putting more memory in fixed it for me.

sundevil13 then you probably have enough storage. Did you ever find the amount of RAM your OS says it has now?
