  6. yo buren...maybe i can tweak my connection a Little and get better results...i usually use wdc,speakeasy.net to get my test speeds...they give me this...should be 3.0/768 (close!) 2005-06-10 07:13:31 EST: 2625 / 694 Your download speed : 2688538 bps, or 2625 kbps. A 328.1 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 711068 bps, or 694 kbps. not really a problem...from them but then when i tested from this site...i get a little different...maybe why i am getting slow ping times.... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2658 Kbps about 2.7 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Download Speed is:: 324 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Fri Jun 10 2005 07:07:43 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 47X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.16 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 81.58 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-R1E5UJWS3 :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 522 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 64 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Fri Jun 10 2005 07:09:16 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 9X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 16 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 11.06 % faster than the average for host (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FX1KU54LW don't know...if tcp optimizer is the best program for dsl...but could you recommend me some good settings for my setup?
  7. buren...i need some help i am new at this...i dont know if this post is in the right spot but... i live in vermont i upgraded my line 6 days ago from verizons 1.5/384 business dsl line to a 3.0/784 verizon business line....same line nothing changed no modem or replacement lines or nothing (dont really need anything new i know) i got the speeds within 2 hours...but noticed when i play games and load pages....and pretty much evey internet action...it hesitates longer than it did six weeks ago... as im sure you can imagine...that stinks...i have called verizon and they stink also . they told me that it was possible that my routers firewall was restricing its throughput... doesnt make sense to me..cuz i get all the bandwidth...it has to do with a slow responding time....i have hooked my a single computer upto the modem without the router...and i couldnt get it to work...i think that it may have something to do with requiring you to use a usb....i dont have one...but i have used 3 differnt routers and turn the firewalls off on all of them and used one computer at a time...and get the same ping issues...what do you suggest?
  8. yo...this is my first post...i have never done a forum or anything...but i know about computers.... check out my problem 1 1/2 years ago i purchased the business dsl line from verizon...my advertised speed was 1.5/384...i always got those speeds...no problem 1 week ago...i changed my connection from 1.5/384 verizon business line...to a 3.0/768 verizon business line...i get my speeds all the time...no problem my trouble is this...i play multiple online games like counter strike source...on my old line i would dominate, my ping was 20.30ms ...now on a line that is twice the speed i get more than double my ping,,,cant even play there is obviously something wrong with either mine or verizons setup...i am running xp using a cheap belkin router. no changes have been made to any settings...i don't think that the trouble is with my router or my computers (4 total mostly 3 running) because i played every day and only noticed the change with the faster line...i have called verizon...they suck they don't know...they changed my "binder group" to allow me to use a lesser percent of the maximum capacity of my line (they swore up and down this would work) in reality that attempt didn't even give me the proper speeds...tweaking was still necessary. i know that their is not a whole lot a user like myself can do to lower a ping,,,but maybe someone can suggest something for me to TELL verizon to do to my line...in hopes of lowering my responce time... PS....please don't just tell me to turn off the firewalls and run without a router...i am no noob...(same results)
