i just did a test on the site for my isp and it shows my down speed at 5.5mbps and up speed at 480kb/s. my advertised speed is 5mbps and 640kb/s. so the speed is fine. why can't i download faster than 2-3 kb/s?

where do you find your advertised speed? i know bit torrents can be slow but my friend is on the same internet provider, same city, and my computer is faster and he can download stuff on the same bit comet program faster. i can get usually 1-2kb/s and he says that he gets a lot of times around 100kb/s.

i don't know what i am doing and would like some help. i've been reading some of the posts about speed but like i said, i'm new and don't know that much about this. i pretty sure i have a fast computer and everything. i was looking at something about port forwarding but the ip addresses it says for them all begin with 192. and mine starts wtih 24. so i don't know how to port forward. these are my stats for dnld and upld :::..
