openSUSE makes reference to firewalld.  So it makes me think they're using it.  Maybe that's the issue.

 

in cent the command to disable firewalld is 

systemctl disable firewalld

 

stop firewalld

systemctl stop firewalld

 

firewalld status

systemctl status firewalld

 

Once disabled iptables take affect.

It seems the servers being used are from SL(SoftLayer). My ISP's upstream provider is L3(Level3). SL has 80Gb/s of peering with L3 in Dallas, but I am in the Midwest.

 

It seems SL only has 10Gb of peering with L3 in Chicago.  What happening is that my tracert goes from my ISP, to L3 Chicago, to SL Chicago, to SL Dallas. Now, SoftLayer only has a total of 20Gb of their own private bandwidth inter-connecting their datacenters.

 

When I tracert SL Dallas, the jump from SL Chic to SL Dal is a 24ms hop, while L3 Chic to L3 Dal is only 19ms. Since they take nearly the same path and the speed of light is quite fast, my conclusion is that SL's Chic to Dal link is a bit congested.

 

It seems to me that my speedtest issues are that L3 seems to be hot-handoff routing.

 

This is the best conclusion I can come to with my limit Google-Foo abilities.

Lol, I like the clean interface, in my opinion, its 10x better than Windows.

There isn't much develpment for their new Windows8.

I know about Hackintosh, but I want it from apple. The way they intended the user ot user THIER computers.

Also their tech support is good because there isn't many models like on Windows, Hp, Dell, Asus, etc. Support is worse on Windows machines, to me.

 

Plus I like iMovie lol

Ok, Sorry been so long, My cable modem has been garbage of late. Just getting on the net is hit and miss. So, they dude is supposed to be here today to replace it. See how it goes. Gotta laugh,

and if you are asking how to override a windows 8 locked os, I have NO clue on what you would do other then format the drive and I have NO clue on what would be preventing you from just up and doing that since I haven't bought a computer that wasn't in parts for YEARS
