  1. It seems that I get a good connection from the main server, Here is what I get

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

    Connection is:: 14966 Kbps about 15 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 1827 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2)

    Test Time:: Tue Aug 16 01:16:10 EDT 2005

    Bottom Line:: 267X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.56 sec

    Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 245.71 % faster than the average for host (verizon.net)

    Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-UVNP8BOFZ

    I test alot and I come to find out it depends on the other side alot then on my side. I can go to some test sites and only get like 3mbit down then go to another and get 15mbit down. Depends on what type of test and thier location and if they are a big name ISP like all of RR's test sites I have been too have maxed out at 5mbit.

  2. You might want to try a different test or mirror to test under. I just got home and tested my speed here and it was going very slow here, so I rebooted and still got slow speeds. Well I then went to Gamespy and downloaded a demo of Total Rome at 1.9MBs which is above the 15mbit speed. I normally only get like 1.8MBs on there. So I think there is some heavy traffic going thru the test servers right now.

  3. Because of your test of the speed of a different router, I also wanted to check my other router. its a viewsonic wireless  G+ router and here are the speeds of both the viewsonice and dlink vdi-604 routers

    Both routers have the mtu set at 1492 I dont know what difference this is to what I been told before I think it was like 1473 or something like that. but no speed problems with it set to 1492.

  4. Ok, I did find an updated firmware from Verizon themselves for the dlink router, But I am wondering if that firmware is compatible with the FiOS service or just the DSL service. One bad thing is they dont tell what it changes or updates. and which service it is for. I am thinking it should be for FiOS because they dont give out these routers to DSL subscribers they normally give out westell dsl modems.

    Am I right on this?

  5. Ok I have FiOS 15/2 and they said I needed the dlink router to get the maximum speeds out of the 15/2 which seems to be right, They have an updated firmware, But when I see the firmware of the router its very old compared to the firmware that is out on dlinks site. Is Verizon going to keep updates to the firmware or just have it never updated. Or would it be ok to install a new firmware.

  6. I dont know about the LinkSys routers, I have a ViewSonic wireless router and when I hook it directly too the FiOS from the ONT I get a major speed decrease. So I keep the D-link they set up for me and use the viewsonic as a daisy chain. I have tested the wireless and get 10+mbit speeds thru the wireless G I have in the other room. And there is no slow down on my own system which is hardwired into the d-link. so I would suggest daisychaing the linksys or any other routers to the dlink as the dlink has the special firmware from verizon themselves.
